Lavvin — Restaurant in England

Easter Sunday lunch for family of 3. Manager made a big mistake at the end by coming to ask us to leave as we stood up to go. I had just come back from the loo, ready to go. Our table was booked until 15.15. TheTime was 15.04. Because we couldn't fit in desserts or coffee. He decided that other customers were waiting for their table.😡 Our bill came to GBP 215 which included their service charge of gbp24.00. The 2 tables beside us had tap water and Sunday roasts at 23.00 and 2 starters. 1 pint of beer. It was very bad service in my opinion and left a very sour taste in my mouth. I even said to him smiling that our table was booked on our reservation until 15.15. Disgraceful! My daughter saw the other Manager telling him not to do it. He resented my daughter asking for some more water. Food was excellent, 2 roasts, 1 fillet steak, 3 starters, champagne and 1 bottle of red for 35.00 gbp. We were so full we couldn't fit in desserts this time. But really, some serious training needed here. As I mentioned we paid a lot, and don't get us confused with the 2 tables on each side of us who ordered just a main course and tap water. Not good...

This was our fourth visit to Lavvin, and sadly, it didn’t meet the standard we had come to expect.

We booked a 6pm table to avoid the usual evening rush, but despite the early time, we felt rushed throughout the meal. The starters were fine, but once the mains arrived, no one checked back with us.

My partner's steak, ordered medium, was undercooked. We asked for it to be corrected, but when it was returned, it came back overcooked. Again, no follow-up from staff. By that point, the sides were cold, and the dish had lost its appeal. He ate what he could of the steak and left the rest.

We were offered the dessert menu, but by then we just wanted to finish up and leave. When we asked for the bill, I mentioned the issue with the steak. The manager came over, removed the service charge, and offered complimentary desserts — which we had already declined. While the gesture was noted, it felt more like a formality than a genuine effort to resolve the experience.

Overall, it was a disappointing evening. Lavvin has delivered great meals in the past, but this visit fell short both in food quality and service. We’ll be thinking twice...

Really enjoyed our early evening meal here. My wife, newborn and myself spontaneously visited this restaurant, after strolling about Marlow for our 2nd wedding anniversary. The service was 11/10. From the front of house manger to the rest wait staff, there were all very attentive, welcoming and informative about the menu, with a general sense of pride and genuine happiness in their roles. The was a very pleasant ambiance to the interiorm

The food, both, my wife's green risotto and my mixed grill were well seasoned, with tender asparagus, broad beans and lamb respectfully. They tasted absolutely delicious. Likewise our goats cheese and beetroot starter was, warm, flavourful and indulgent, 10/10.

My only minor criticism was that there could have been more rice accompanying my mixed grill and comparative to other mixed grills in the surrounding area, at £29 its on the pricey side.
