Marlow is a picturesque town located on the River Thames, offering stunning views and beautiful scenery that captivate visitors year-round. The charming riverside setting, with its lush green landscapes, peaceful waters, and historic buildings, makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers and photographers alike. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife, particularly birds, which can be spotted along the riverbanks and surrounding nature reserves. Whether it's a family of swans gliding along the water or a variety of other birds in the trees, Marlow offers a perfect setting for birdwatching.

One of the highlights of Marlow is the scenic canal walk. Strolling along the towpath allows you to soak in the tranquility of the river, surrounded by beautiful countryside views. It's a great spot for a peaceful walk, or for those looking to capture stunning photos of nature. The charming bridges, quaint houses, and scenic backdrops make Marlow a perfect location for a photoshoot.

For a unique perspective of the town and its surroundings, taking a boat ride along the River Thames is a must. The gentle flow of the river, combined with the breathtaking scenery, offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Whether you're exploring on foot, capturing photos, or enjoying a boat ride, Marlow's beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere make it a wonderful destination for anyone looking to unwind and connect...

As far as bridges go, this is one of the best in the South of Britain. It's beautiful, historic, I don't need to tell you that. I do need to tell you that driving across it may cost you a fortune. It has a width restriction (6'6") and a weight restriction (3 tons MGT) but if you failed to notice the signs at Bisham roundabout (because you were probably concentrating on not having an accident on the high speed roundabout) then the first you'll spot the restrictions is when you're at the bridge. So you'll be tempted to push through. And that's where the "can openers" (traffic bollards) will get you I just about feel confident driving over the bridge in my legally compliant car because I've been driving it for 13 years, and am confident I know the width. Saying that, I did scrape the alloys on week one by trying. I won't drive my wife's car over despite it being slimmer as I simply won't risk it. So extra miles and air pollution it is then. For a 5* review I expect the council to remove the bollards and install ANPR. Catch and fine those who break the rules, which can pay for structural herewith checked and remedial work, and stop punishing...

I recently became aware of a strikingly beautiful Black boy who had been brought to England by his owner, who had purchased him for 1,000 guineas. Upon his death, the boy was buried in his master's plot. In the late 18th century, a young black boy named George, who had vitiligo, was brought to England by his owner, Sir Thomas Hall, after being purchased for 1,000 guineas. Known for his distinctive spotted skin, George became a notable figure in Sir Thomas's household. After his early death, George was buried in Sir Thomas's family plot, an unusual gesture that reflected the complexity of their relationship and the status George held within the household. His story offers a rare glimpse into the lives of enslaved individuals brought to England during the transatlantic slave trade. The above image was taken in the church...

A metal suspension bridge connecting Marlow with Bisham. It is a picturesque bridge and if seen alongside the church adjacent to it, paints a quaint picture. Atop the bridge, one can view the expanse of Thames on either side, with an active rowing scenery on any bright day. There are several rowing clubs located on the river banks. There is a plaque that commemorates Prof John Griffith, whose activism seems to have saved this bridge. The bridge beams also have a symbol of swan with an inscription meaning Seal of Desborough. The steps leading down from the bridge connect to the Thames Path which straddles the beautiful Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
