Read moreAs far as bridges go, this is one of the best in the South of Britain. It's beautiful, historic, I don't need to tell you that. I do need to tell you that driving across it may cost you a fortune. It has a width restriction (6'6") and a weight restriction (3 tons MGT) but if you failed to notice the signs at Bisham roundabout (because you were probably concentrating on not having an accident on the high speed roundabout) then the first you'll spot the restrictions is when you're at the bridge. So you'll be tempted to push through. And that's where the "can openers" (traffic bollards) will get you I just about feel confident driving over the bridge in my legally compliant car because I've been driving it for 13 years, and am confident I know the width. Saying that, I did scrape the alloys on week one by trying. I won't drive my wife's car over despite it being slimmer as I simply won't risk it. So extra miles and air pollution it is then. For a 5* review I expect the council to remove the bollards and install ANPR. Catch and fine those who break the rules, which can pay for structural herewith checked and remedial work, and stop punishing...
