Nice place but didn’t have the greatest experience, hoping it was just a bad day.

I ordered the mozzarella, pesto and tomato panini and my partner had the homemade sausage roll, both which had salad. My partner has an allergy to most nuts, and the salad was different on each plate, there was no information given on what salad we were getting so I had to ask about certain items, which is fine, but both waitresses upstairs just stood behind the bar, on their phone and they knew I was there. Which just didn’t sit right with me, it just made me feel uncomfortable.

Once we both had our drinks, we were waiting quite a while before a waitress came up to us asking if we wanted anything else, not knowing we had ordered food… Our food had been forgotten, which in busy times is again, fine, but the food wasn’t worth the wait or the price. Mine was luke warm, and the bread had gone mushy, which was off putting.

I am hoping this was just a bad day, as I can see this place...

We stumbled upon this one of a kind gem. I have a few pet hates in life, one of them being charged a fortune for less than a sliver of mediocre cake and the other being horrible coffee, again at exorbitant prices. Love cake is like my gold pot at the end of my rainbow, where I get to choose from fresh decadent slices of cake, the slice size comparable to the titanic and coffee that was smooth, HOT, and creamy. What a delight for my inner child. The ladies were so warm and smiley and the cafe oozes a softly vibey atmosphete that is just so good to hang in. Honestly, I would move house to be in close walking proximity to this space except that my husband is not buying into the dream. You just gotta girls, leave the men n kids at home and go do what ladies love to do, drink coffee, eat cake , chat up a storm and then pop into the local church to do...

Went here Monday 14th of October for a spot of lunch with my wife.

Had a table by the door and was immediately served drinks by a young waitress with curly hair her service was fine.

We entered love cake around 11:45 and had our breakfast tea and smoothie we fully intended to have lunch.

Until seemingly the older waitress taking food orders decided everyone else in the building existed but we didn't. We waited almost 45 minutes and i decided you know what they aren't having my money..

When we went up to the counter again the older waitress walked past us like we didn't exist no smile, no we'll be right with you absolutely nothing so the younger waitress served us

We then went to java and had a lovely lunch.

Worked in hospitality myself and my staff would have a good kick up the backside if...

Very good food - perfect place for an afternoon lunch or an evening tea. Good vegetarian choices for food and hearty meals. Their specials are worth a try. We tried their falafel soul food and a toastie on sourdough. Tasty food and good portions. Both had plenty of salad with a light dressing on each. Accessible and central location - close to the high street. Staff is very friendly. The place gets busy during lunch times - try to get a reservation if possible in advance. Plenty of seating available. Outdoor seating recommended on a nice weather day. Parking is not available on site, need to use street parking. But can easily park near high street and walk to this place.

We were having a little wander around Swanage, around teatime on Friday, and were strolling past this place to get back to our car, just as a chef was preparing a huuuge pan of lovely-looking and smelling paella outside on the pavement, for evening service. We'd already had some food but there were some good-looking cakes, so we decided to have coffee and share a piece of cake. The cake was raspberry and coconut with butter cream icing (see pics), and was delicious 😋. A friend of mine lives in Swanage and tells me the breakfast here is the best in the area, so I'll have to try to check that, next time I'm back in the area 😀

There are few cafes that can be indelibly imprinted on one's memory, but this one just about 'takes the cake'! It certainly lives up to its name with great wedges of wonderfully flavourful, moist and dense yet suitably fluffy, cakes. I particularly enjoyed the 'hummingbird' cake (a sort of banana and cinnamon twist on carrot cake) and their cream tea is to die for with no holding back on the thick clotted cream and handmade jam. Even the tea and coffee are top notch; I didn't need milk in either and had a very refreshing masala chai with the cake. Highly recommended and will now be a 'must' whenever I visit Swanage.
