Manjaros Restaurant Darlington — Restaurant in England

Hello we recently had a collection order costing about £60 from your restaurant at Darlington, (we normally go to Middlesbrough however Darlington was closer and more convenient) we waited 1.5 hours for our food we arrived home to tuck in and were very disappointed on opening the boxes, first of all the chicken and lamb skewers we always get literally had no sauce and were still on the skewers with around 4 pieces of meat, and which were very dry, this is nothing like we get from Middlesbrough and have previously got from Darlington, I rang up and asked if the recipe had changed? I was told no that they did them on the skewers and not In sauce, also the two corn on the cob we ordered were off, the smell from them alone was horrendous they were thrown straight in the outside bin I’m very surprised we were served them, I can’t put in to words how bad the smell was. After calling the restaurant to clarify any changes to the recipe or menu that we were unaware of when ordering and to complain about what we had been served the customer service I received was very unprofessional the girl on the phone just kept repeating what I was saying in a sarcastic manner and chatting to her colleagues saying I can’t even here her. As I have already mentioned we are very unhappy with the customer service and the quality of food we received from a well known and loved restaurant like yourselves the amount it cost to what we actually received was terrible, we weren’t given a apology or a alternative to the issues raised if we hadn’t traveled so far we would of just returned it. unfortunately we will not be ordering from the Darlington branch again I would rather travel that bit further and receive good quality and consistency of food we expect from a well know restaurant like manjaros.

The food was amazing, tasty and good portions, me and my partner ate a lot and prices were accordingly good. I think it needs a bit of work on the look from the outside as we thought at the beggining it was an indian food restaurant until some friend corrected us after 4-5 months of living in D, which is a shame as we missed a lot of opportunities to dig into the menu. The decor in the inside is spot on though. In my opinion better than nandos. We ate a wrap (average, not bad at all but nothing special) and a full roast chicken with 2 sauces that we later took home (just perfect), we also tried a ferrero cheesecake... It was hard to find any ferrero taste in it but the cake was good so, you know, ours could have taken the worst part of the mix, that can happen and yet, the cake was good. The staff looked very young who made us think that they were there because it is cheap to hire them but they did an excellent job and might as well be the healthy food, they were very optimistic and looked happy during the entire couple of hours that we were there which is always a plus, and I mean between them not just with the customer. My and my partner have a great deal of experience in hospitality so we are always judging not only the menu but the probably conditions of work as well. Oh man. Unbelievable.

We booked a party of 20 for a birthday celebration. Now I’ll be honest, I thought we’d have to pre-order a few days before or something, but no.

I phoned up a few days before to ask if it would be okay to bring a cake as it was for a birthday and they said it was fine.

Got there and there was a table set up for us where we all sat together.

The food order was taken after the drinks order was done and everyone’s food arrived pretty much at the same time, nice and hot. That was brilliant.

I only drink hot drinks so asked for hot water which was no issue.

The service I can’t fault. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much for them. Really friendly, smiling and polite.

Couldn’t have asked for better service.

But the food. Unreal. I got the half tandoori chicken parmo. Outstanding.

There were a few veggie ones in the party who had pizza and pasta which they really enjoyed. The meat eaters had pasta, parmos, burgers and loaded tandoori chicken fries.

When the cake was being brought out, which was a surprise for the birthday boy, they played and sung happy birthday. Awesome.

The food was brilliant. My third outing here and it’s always been great.

The staff definitely made the day special.
