Read moreThis is simply the best Park I have ever visited, I would not have believed that such a space with a wide variety of, walking / running and cycling experiences, wildlife, plants (including fruit that you can freely eat as you go round) could exist in a town environment there is a play ground, where you can actually see the whole area from the picnic tables provided, ( so you can watch your little scallywags at play while enjoying your food), speaking of which, centrally placed is a very good cafe. An aviary which puts the care of the animals first, and yet let's everyone see up close without intrusion. One of the most amazing things I found was, that right amongst all this tranquillity, a skateboard Park is included, done in such away that you don't even hear the usual noises associated with it, well done all involved in making this possible!. Plenty of information is found on very well laid out (and accurate) information boards at the park entrances too. Most amazing of all?, this beautiful space, (with really friendly people using it), is actually in amongst the hustle and bustle of a full grown town. I love this area, the town and it's people (of all ages). I live on the south coast, but if I could, I would move here, I really do look forward each year, to spending , my one week rest time from caring, here, in friendly Darlington.See you all again...

Bit of a mare to park, nothing on Parkside but turned around and persevered and got a spot on the main road (A167) once sorted what a lovely little walk. We went through and round the park following the skerne to where you veer right to go to the duck pond. To the left was an amazing open area, dogs would love it, folk having picnics, people exercising, it was lovely. We kept to the right around the pond, taking us back down the river and ending up at the community garden. From there we went "under the road" through an open gate that led us onto a lovely open green area, will be great in the summer months (our pooch still managed a dip in the water) Walked down to the wear and crossed over the bridge & the walk took us back to Parkside road. Not quite a yomp but a cannie...
