We were met with a warm welcome and a pleasant smile which started our visit off in just the right way. The cafe is decorated really nice and it's in a perfect location just opposite the sea front. We went inside and ordered the Vietnamese pork and two parmo sandwiches, two cappuccinos and a lemonade. We sat outside in the picturesque surroundings taking in the atmosphere and the view, it was just so relaxing. Within a few minutes our drinks arrived which, the coffees took us back to the ones we had in Málaga. The sandwiches arrived a few minutes later and WOW they are to die for, they are more like a main meal than a sandwich. They were delicious, succulent and flavoursome. We will definitely return. Just a couple of miles outside of Whitby but, from now on we'd rather come here than grab something to eat in Whitby. Thank you Mary's sandwich shop, absolutely gorgeous and once tried you'll never go...
Read moreI've been waiting to try this place, and managed to visit for my birthday in June. We didn't eat in though, instead I chose their salt Beef sarnie to take out, and paired it with some crab fries from the fish shack just round the corner. What a combo! I can recommend both, although the salt Beef sarnie was really good. The sandwich shop isn't what I expected - it's much more of a bar/cafe than a shop, doing good beers and hot drinks along with food. It's quite small with limited seating inside, although there is extra seating out front for good weather. Or you could do what we did and order your food/drink as a takeaway and simply head down to the beach to eat. It's a quirky place too, with a good cosy atmosphere and the staff are good too. The sarnies are made fresh, so they can take 5 or 10 minutes if they're busy, but the wait is worth it. All in all a great addition...
Read moreTasty food, friendly staff and good coffee. However, I do think the bread is far too sweet for the sandwich fillings and too stodgy (we both thought this and had a 2 very different fillings). A toasted sourdough would suit much better, a foccacia would also be better for the door stop sandwich effect they're creating. I'd like to try their burgers but sadly the only veggie option on the current menu is an Onion Bhaji burger which isn't for me. Would like to go again for lunch but only if different bread options were available for lunchtime sandwiches. Not cheap, but portions are very big so makes it good value for money (we should have shared a sandwich between 2 of us). Would happily drop in again for a coffee anytime though and it is overall a...
