McDonald's — Restaurant in England

Ordered a few meals after a child's party. Deliveroo was who I went through. Now I only ordered 3 burgers, a mccrispy meal, and 3 happy meals. Also a coke for the burgers, the rest had drinks included. Order was accepted without a rider at just before or around 5pm Saturday 9th March 2024. Then I was notified on my app (deliveroo) at 5.15pm that my order had been accepted and was being prepared. A long time had past and it was getting a bit late for the kids so I went on deliveroo live chat to see what was going on, (about 6.45) and I was told that they were struggling to get a rider. I asked whether my food would be hot or not and was assured that it would be fine. At 7.50pm the food finally arrived. Some of it anyway! Mccrispy meal was missing as were all of the drinks, including the Happy meal drinks. Deliveroo fully refunded me after complaining, after I explained that the food that did eventually turn up was inedible. Stone cold. Like it was cooked when they said it was being cooked, and then just left on the side for 2 and a half hours. Having worked in a kitchen and doing many courses at the time, from what I remember you can hot hold food for a maximum of 90 minutes. Having spoke to a few people, places like McDonald's and burger King have staff who just think it's OK to reset, or switch timers off on hot holders. What's the point of the alarm? One of the worst McDonald's experiences I've had anywhere in the world (although the UK ones are definitely amongst the worst anyway) since the advent of being able to get your junk food actually delivered to you they've all been pretty crap as thats obviously far more profitable and that seems to be the priority for most UK McDonald's now. This one worse than most, so full of delivery drivers and their vehicles that its actually really difficult to get into the carpark, you can't get parked, so have to use the ridiculously congested drive-through. Order and payment quickly taken, then sit there for ten minutes, but no food ready when you finally get to the collection window. (Because the kitchen is too busy with its delivery service). Solution? "Can you go and wait in the car park please?" "No, there's no spaces, and I've already been waiting ten minutes." "You're holding everyone up!" "Actually, no, you're holding everyone up by taking payment and orders you can't fulfill in reasonable time because you're too busy doing delivery orders, also no one can actually get a space in your car park as it's completely full of delivery drivers." "Errr, can you go and wait in the car park?" "I've already told you that's not happening and why, if you've no food I'll take a refund." "I can't do that here." "Best to hurry up with the cooking then?" At this point a manager refunded me in cash (I'd paid by card) and it took another ten minutes just to get out of the place, farcical fast food set up, I've never seen...

Used to be good, but the last few months, we have been through the drive through a few times and been let down every single time. They're reliably unreliable. Always forgetting food (on 2 occasions, missed a big mac and today missed a double cheeseburger).. Putting things through wrong (today, asked for large but got given regular. Asked to change, happy to pay the difference, but told no! Rude and unhelpful staff.) They consistently give us cold meals, with tired deflated fries and dry burgers. Cheese "melts" that are not melted. How they think they can get away with serving cold food at the same price as hot food is beyond me.

It might take longer, but go to the one in Torquay or Newton Abbott if you're wanting to use a drive through. At least if we had time to sit in, we would have been able to complain to the manager, but we always only notice something is missing or wrong when we're on the main road heading back home, and it's a pain to turn around to have to then deal with the staff who could not care less.
