We visited the Market Tavern to watch England play Panama in the World cup. The pub was packed out with England fans to the point where security on the door stopped letting people in. It was hard to move, I could hardly see the TV, and shortly after arrival I had to accept the fact that I would be getting showered with beer several times during the evening... but the atmosphere inside was incredible! I've never experienced anything like it. After a couple of beers it was impossible not to join in with the countless "it's coming home" chants, and the rendition of the National Anthem before kick-off was spine chilling. The beer was reasonably priced too which was a bonus. Read moreWent in when Grimsby town were away at Notts County in a playoff match which I believe they won ,absolutely great atmosphere at the time of my visit wish I could of stayed longer but had to go at half time. Went in a couple of days later and still a good atmosphere even though the place was only about a quarter full ,couple of real ales on at the time and were well on form ,usual beers and lagers ciders and shorts available and well stocked fridges , staff were excellent in there service and even found time to have a friendly chat between serving customers, if you get the chance to pop in go for it ,10 out of 10 nice to know pubs like this still exist instead of all these brewery owned...
