Mezze Downend — Restaurant in England

A lovely meal sadly ruined.

Had a fantastic meal, food was great. But when we left a staff members car had blocked my car in. I was parked in the far left corner by the outdoor seating where the bollards are.

However, the car parked directly behind me did not leave me enough room to manoeuvre out and the bollards made it difficult for me to swing out without hitting the front end of the my car.

When the waitress came out she said they could not get hold of the owner of the car (staff member) as they were upstairs in living accommodation. She then said asked another customer to leave their meal to move their car in the disabled spot next to the staff members car, so I can reserve out without hitting any cars.

When I addressed to the waitress that the person should of not parked behind me and how awful it was that she had a customer leave her meal to move her car because of a STAFF member. The waitress simply replied, 'it's a space, no one else has this problem, just you.'

Wow, so not only did she disturb another customer eating but she accused me of being in the wrong and I couldn't drive!

Needless to say I was speechless. I will never return just because of this incident, which is sad as the food...

Wow! Not just great food, but so much of it. You always think to order loads of dishes because they're small... well you don't need to!

We ordered 1 mezze each as a starter (table of 5 people) - nachos were a huge portion, the fried brie was amazing, the others had halloumi and dolmades, and the houmous and olives - everyone was impressed, although the houmous didn't come with any bread.

Mains we ordered 3 each plus a side. The stifado was amazing - 4 ordered it and everyone said how amazing it was. Pesto chicken was good. Sweet potato fries were nice. The cheese paella was OK. Others had chicken shawarma, beef chilli, a chorizo dish, a prawn dish but I can't remember the rest. They were all making the right noises about their dishes! And we were all totally stuffed by the end - I don't know how we got out of our chairs!

Although you want to order every dish because it sounds so yummy, just be warned, you'll struggle to eat it all!

We had no room for desserts, but they also sounded amazing. Next time, I'll order less, and make room...

My Sister booked a table for 10 people for Father's day at 2pm. We pre ordered the mains, no starters and it took almost 40 mins after sitting down (just before 2pm) for the food to arrive. When it did the food was cold. Four of us sent our roast dinners back to the kitchen. My niece was the first to get her dinner back from the kitchen and the food was still cold! All they'd done was add hot gravy - which doesn't actually cook the food! It went back again.... It was now gone 3pm and we finally got served new meals that were slightly warmer, not hot. We were totally disappointed. We were offered free puddings, which was ok, but when your paying £17 for a roast, a £6.50 pudding doesn't seem much given the meals were not up to expectations. Then came the almost 20 min wait for pudding menu and another 20 mins for them to arrive. At 4:30 I had to leave my family there eating puddings, as I was due at my in-laws. The most painful Sunday lunch visit I've ever had the miss fortune to experience. Don't think we'll go back,...
