The extensive menu presented us with quite the dilemma in establishing a firm decision, but we managed to settle on the fried mozzarella to start followed by the spaghetti carbonara and I chose the mushrooms in breadcrumbs followed by the lemon and pepper chicken. Considering the fact that almost all of the restaurant was occupied by couples and groups alike, we found our menu choices were delivered to our table within a comfortable time-frame.
Our starter courses were both hot and delicious, in addition to being generous enough in size to provide what would otherwise be quite a satisfying lunch. The mozzarella was heated to perfection with a crispy outer, and matched very well to the accompanying rich tomato sauce. The mushroom starter was ample in size (although not excessive) and the fresh ingredients were clearly prepared with pride. Our main courses were equally delicious and fresh. The lemon and pepper chicken was one of the most delicious meals I have ever enjoyed in a restaurant and my girlfriend was very pleased with her spaghetti.
We did not have to struggle in order to gain the attention of a member of staff and found everyone to be very helpful. The checks on our meals did not feel intrusive whatsoever. The intimate and sophisticated atmosphere is well-suited to couples looking to spend some quality time together. However, family visits appear to be well-cated for with large tables and a varied menu to suit many a palate. The residents of Downend and the surrounding area are very fortunate to have such an establishment within...

Italb is hands-down one of the best Italian spots in the city! I recently dined there, and from start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The cozy atmosphere combined with the genuine warmth of the staff made me feel right at home.
I started off with the calamari, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy, perfectly cooked, and paired with a dipping sauce that was to die for. It was easily one of the best I’ve had in a while! Next up was the garlic bread, and wow—it was soft on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and bursting with rich, buttery garlic goodness.
Then came the star of the show—the pizza! The crust was thin, light, and cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven. Every bite was a flavor explosion, with fresh toppings and the perfect balance of sauce and cheese. It tasted authentic and absolutely mouth-watering.
To finish off, I tried the Penne Arrabbiata, which was simply perfect. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice to give it a nice kick without being overwhelming. The flavors were fresh, bold, and left me wanting more.
All in all, Italb Bristol hit all the right notes. From the amazing food to the impeccable service, every detail made this dining experience one to remember. If you're looking for a true taste of Italy, this is the place to go....
Read moreAmazing! Went here as my daughters choice for her 12th birthday. 5 adults and 5 children (6-53 yrs). Was early on a Tuesday evening so restaurant was nice and quite. Exceptional service and wonderfully attentive staff. Food was great. Kids loved the fresh pizzas, creamy carbonara, fresh baked bread and olives and the chocolate cake. Tagliatelle Marinara was fresh and delicious, linguine vongole was beautiful and the orecchiette was equally good. Overall, a great place for a family dinner, great food, great service and decent prices. Personally, I would like the decor to be a little more traditional (but that’s just my opinion) and the toilets could do with a rethink but a strong 8.5/10...
