Paid £7.50 for the "Seadog" meal special which was essentially a fish finger sandwhich/baguette with lettuce and home made tartar sauce, one of my favourite types of sandwhich. Despite the special board using the word "meal" it is just the sandwhich you are paying for.
Somehow this was the worst fish finger sandwhich I've had, the jumbo fish fingers they use were bland, dry and had an off taste. Their "homemade tartar sauce" was just salad cream, and they used a Tesco tiger baguette (I dont mind a Tesco tiger baguette but I paid £7.50 for this sandwhich so expected something less cheap).
I also ordered a mocha (£3.50), no frothed milk so came across more like an instant coffee, the coffee machines at whetherspoons or the texaco garage make a better coffee.
My partner ordered cheesy chips which were nice but because they were microwaved the oil from the chips and the cheese separated and formed a puddle at the bottom of the bowl making half the chips very soggy and not very appetising. My partners bacon brie and cranberry baguette was nicer but again definitely not worth £7.50, we both left feeling like we had wasted our money considering the other options in Chard.
Despite our experience some of the other food like the breakfasts they brought out for other customers looked quite nice so will give them the benefit of the doubt for that and won't leave a one star review.
However I won't be...
Read moreVisited on a Friday morning. I was welcomed and felt instantly comfortable especially as I was eating alone. I ordered a breakfast and wasnt disappointed. The scalloped potatoes were cooked perfectly and not over crispy. Bacon was done to my desired taste, the beans weren't overly watery which shoes that the ingredients arent cheap but of a high standard. If I were to make one comment it would be that my grilled tomato could have been a little more well done. (That's just a personal preference as being a large half was just a little too hard still) I am sure with out a doubt if I had mentioned this tho they would have without a doubt rectified this. The staff were amazing. Happy to chat and made everyone welcome. The premises are extremely clean and inviting. Will definately recommend to others and...
Read moreLovely little café with friendly staff and good food. We had jacket potatoes, so nothing exciting, but they were baked to perfection and not under done on toppings like in so many other places. I must comment on the salad though - while salads are very simple, most places I've been have everything cut and prepped in advance and you can tell as the components start drying out, this was evidently made fresh which I was pleasantly surprised with: the leaves were fresh, the peppers sweet, and delicious tomatoes. Nice and clean place too, will...
