Today we decided to experience this restaurant. Unfortunately all the restaurants we have tried in the UK (London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Colchester, and now Southend-on-Sea) were no match to the quality and taste of Dubai.
We ordered 3 starters to see if the restaurant is offering authentic Indian food. We ordered mini mix grill, Chicken tikka and Chicken Chat on Puri. Everything was cooked in the same gravy and therefore tasted same. The service standard was good. After finishing the starters we decided that we can't have any further food here, because in our opinion this restaurant is NOT offering authentic Indian food at all.
Out of courtesy, I asked the waiter to get me the bill and I told him that we are getting bit late for somewhere.
The guy was absolutely RUDE and ARROGANT. He said that they don't allow starters only and you have to order main course. I couldn't understand this kind of rule. After paying the starters bill, I went to speak to the waiter and I told him that I didn't like his comments and their illogical rule. I told him that such kind of rules needs to be printed or explicit. And then I told him the real reason for not having main course at their restaurant. The reason is simple for us, we can't waste our money on dishes that are all cooked in the same gravy or spice. This was a really bad experience for us, and not because of the food but because of attitude and pathetic behavior of the waiter. If you are looking for a authentic and tasty Indian cuisine then go...
Read moreCame with a friend to eat there on the evening of 26th August. (2025) Service was good and the atmosphere relaxed. However the food (in my opinion) was extremely bland and tasted like the kind of thing I could knock up on my first attempt at cooking. The food didn’t taste like it had been made with any love or skill. The peshwari nann bread was hard and chewy and the Vegetable Bhuna was very underwhelming, as were the Bombay potatoes. That said, the staff were nice and friendly and the general vibe was good. Portions were fine and the prices seemed about standard for an Indian restaurant. However, to eat great food is the primary reason for going to any restaurant. I have been spoilt by eating at Taste of Raj in Rochford and that has set a benchmark for me. These guys could do with paying them a visit and comparing bland...
Read moreThis place used to be great. The service and food used to be great. However, now, I can't say anything good about it. The service is shocking and on 2 occasions now, even after repeatedly mentioning an allergy on both occasions they forgot and just prepared the dish as normal. It was pure fluke we noticed on both occasions and didn't end up in A&E. The appology on reporting this and confirming was empty and pathetic. Much like their customer service. If you have allergies, steer clear....
