Nando's Widnes — Restaurant in England

Service leaves much to be desired. If like me you have never been to a nandos then I must say that the service by mostly miserable and Unenthusiastic staff is a major turn off. Firstly there is no one to greet you and you have to figure out if you should find a table yourself. Then you are told that you must go get your own food, fair enough but what they don't explain is how to order it as the menu is very complicated and not explained. The staff behind the counter. Including the presumably over worked cook is 3rd class at best, just bare minimum with no smile or greeting. I waited patiently fir my food and when it came it did indeed look appetising and well cooked. However there was no cutlery, so I just assumed that they would bring some over shortly, again no explanation that you have to go get it yourself. So after waiting a few minutes I figured this out and got my own cutlery etc...The food tasted great and was very well presented but unfortunately let down by poor service and shoddy attitude towards new customers. I would not come here again when there is a much nicer and friendlier restaurant across the car park. That was closed today, and at 3:45pm when it was not at all busy I expected so much more...

Always busy and always popular. Greeted by a friendly young lady at the door, and immediately shown to a table. Downloaded the app as requested and ordered drinks and food. A different girl brought us the drinks, and kinda run off before bringing glasses or ideally glasses with ice. When we caught someone’s attention, they brought us glasses, but still minus the ice! The food wasn’t too long a wait. My carnivorous friend wasn’t too impressed with their dish. I had the vegan wrap option. And I’m glad I ordered a couple of sides. I had ordered the spiced up chips, but just received normal ones. A side order of broccoli stems was like warm, not cooked and watery. Supposed to be garlic and lemon. There was a hint of lemon. My main was ok, but nothing special. Didn’t really taste of anything. The hot sauce wasn’t the hottest. But of course you have the option to add more of your own. I didn’t really think it a very generous portion for what it cost. Moderate service. Moderate food....

Food was (albeit standard fayre) very well presented and quickly prepared to a high standard.

Service was excellent when received, but with the now standard "order from your phone" policy everywhere there was only one till order point availanle and a bit of a queue to resolve an issue when the mobile order app fell over after charging me. This is the only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars as everything else was perfect.

Atmosphere was good, background music was not too loud to prevent discussion but set a suitable and pleasant ambiance. Was quite busy but not too loud.

Note: they appear to have added some new tables with stainless steel tops which don't match the rest of the decor and feel cold and clinical. We were originally placed here but moved to a wooden table when requested.

Overall really good and would recommend. Will...
