New owners will be taking over in January 2020 after ten brilliant years of Number 39. The end of an era for the best small music venue anywhere!! Had to laugh at the reviewer who moaned because he entered a music venue and people had to tell him to "shush" - I think that says more about the reviewer than the venue! The owners have ran a great bar and Darwen Music Projects have achieved wonders turning a bar into a fabulous venue! Has an excellent range of freshly brewed ales all on hand pumps. I had Up t'mill which was 3.8% and was smooth and very moreish. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The night we went was open mic night and there was a steady stream of musicians willing to have a go.
