We attended the OK diner on Saturday 29th December. Let me start by saying I understand that this time of year is a bit odd. I get people don't want to be at work, but lack luster customer service was on the top of the menu. When we arrived we were told that we could be seated but they wouldn't be able to take food orders for 25mins. We thought bit odd but 25mins considering we were doing a 4hr trip was worth it. We sat down and ordered drinks and they kindly brought over a baby seat for my 11month old. My partner ordered a milkshake that he loved, (hense the 2 stars) I just had a "refillable" coffee. 25 mins went past and we hadn't even spoken to a member of wait staff who were all stood around the one end of the diner, my partner had to get up and ask them for a another drink. They then asked him if he could take it back to the table, so made him wait around for them to poor a can of coke into a glass. 40 mins since we sat down we eventually spoke to a person to order food. In this time I'd seen the chef walk out twice I can only assume for a break. Then another member of staff took over the grill. 10mins after we got our food. My partners didn't look too bad he had the buttermilk chicken with pulled pork burger (£14.95) the chicken was crispy the burger over done and somehow the bun was soggy. I had the mixed grill. I fiercely suggest no-one ever eats that again. On my plate I had a cremated burger 1 piece of bacon, the cheepest sausages I've ever eaten a bit of tomato, onion rings (the meals only saving grace), and curly fries (which I didn't ask for) so for £11 I was bitterly disappointed. We ate it as we had waited an hour and was starving. And as we don't know the area very well we unaware of other places to eat. When we had finished our meal, a waiter came over and was polite enough, took our plates and we asked for the bill. This took another 15mins of 4 members of staff stood round the till until we received said bill. Honestly think I've seen slugs move faster. While waiting we saw a member of staff come in with bags of produce from Aldi which made me feel ill at lease as I don't feel our meals were worth what we were charged anyway, but I can almost do a week shop at aldi for the same money this meal cost us. By this time I left to go change the baby but my partner waited round to pay and eventually went to the till (even though on a note on the receipt we were asked to stay seated and to wait for a member of staff), he said luckily because we paid contactlusly there was no option to leave a tip as the way the staff lured over him made him feel abliged. So over all throughly disappointed and we will not be eating there again. Rediculasly slow service and seriously...
Read moreRead moreIt’s an odd name choice, isn’t it? Welcome to our “OK” diner. The service will be “OK”. The food will be “OK”. The atmosphere.. will be “OK”. So with expectations set suitably middle of the range we entered. Had to wait 5 minutes for a table despite there visibly being a few empty. Waited a further 10 minutes to order our drinks (and food), then waited 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Waited about 30 minutes for our food which is at the upper end of acceptable for what it was. For reasons unknown you can’t have a jug of tap water, just by the glass. Kids eat free if you order an adult main. A burrito is not an adult main unless you order fries with it. All in £24 to feed 2 adults (mains only) and 2 young kids which is pretty decent value these days. Large portions for the kids which is a surprise given they are free. Burrito plate quite lonely and sad (fries come on a separate bowl); a little salad or garnish would fix that (or a smaller plate). Main of ribs and wings was nice enough although not quite as good as e.g. TGi Fridays. Waitress didn’t check if everything was okay (it was) or take our plates away when we had finished. Good high chair for the baby. Clean albeit small toilets. If I had invested in this restaurant I would expect to see a faster more responsive service, as that equals profit. A drive-thru and breakfast bar (for single/couples) seems like a no-brainer but were absent. All in.. it was.. OK. I already left a review on the evening in question. I was appalled by the place. The female who seemed to be incharge was rude and was eating when we arrived. We stood for about 5 minutes whilst she ate. A chef was frantically cooking for the other one customer in the place. A couple who arrived just before us. Another memeber of staff stood with his back to the entrance door. Eventually he turned and saw us. Seated us up the far end. Gave us menus. He came back about 6minutes later to take our drinks order. Then about 4minutes later to take our food order. We ordered starters each and mains. When the starters came they looked good and started eating. Literally a minute later the mains were delivered. My partner had literally just finish two chicken wings. I had eaten a couple of nachos, corn chips. I now had a dilema eat my starter or eat my bbq ribs. I ate my nachos and tried to eat as quickly as possible but my ribs were cold. A family arrived while we were eating. In the over packed restaurant was a single man on a table to our right, a couple on the table to our left. The rest of the place was empty. Apart from the female manager or supervisor eating toast still. We ate for about 10 minutes and as we were leaving the family were still standing, sitting waiting to be seated. I have driven past ok maybe twice a week for the last two years and always wondered how it was inside. Now i know i will no longer have to wonder. I will stop a the burger van in the layby just...
