Our forth time visiting Ozen. This time a group of seven of us as aaend of for my brother visiting Japan. Food as always was superb. And for a restaurant that's the main thing.
However our waiter just seemed to be in the wrong job. He just made me feel nervousm nerves that seemed justified when he spilled half a bottle of beer down my son's back soaking his shirt coat and seat. I suggested that he should at least replace the bottle as half of it was now being worn by my son. He either didn't hear me or didn't even think that this would be the correct etiquette considering he has poured a drink over a customer. I didn't want to make a fuss because, firstly he didn't seem to be bothered and I fully expected him to react negatively to me. And this was a celebration and I didn't want to spoil it by making a fuss. But considering he's spilled beer on a customers clothing I thought the least he could do was offer a new one on the house. But no nothing. It was not gracious or polite and that's a shame. Especially as we were charged for this service which was neither warm or welcoming. And lastly this same waiter cleared the table while one of us was still eating which was doubly embarrassing because he was my brother who was our guest and and it just embarrassed me that he couldn't wait for us all to finish. He basically had zero etiquette wasn't friendly or welcoming soaked a guest in beer and charged us for the beer and for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited this restaurant on recommendation from a friend, knowing we love asian and japanese food.
The menu is vast and all the food sounded delicious. We opted for a selection of starters and a Ramen each and although dubious of the colour of the Ramen, not the colour we expected for a beef ramen, the ramen hit the spot and blew us away, forget Wagamama, this is the place for a Ramen (Ozen Ramen ordered from Menu).
I would say the area of improvement for this restaurant is a little more care taken by having more than one waiting staff as I would have loved to have the menu explained to me as someone knew to sushi and maybe a couple of dishes picked out or recommended for me. This just isnt possible when you have just the one waiter working (as was the case when we visited), he was doing his best but gosh does this place get busy.
We visited at 12:10, surprised to see the sign on the door saying closed as we had booked for 12:00. We nearly walked away however I decided to try the door and asked are you open' much to the surprise of the waiter who I think had clearly forgotten to turn the closed sign over. Other than these few issues, this place delivered on the food and the service as best as one person can give so I would not hesitate to recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow! What an amazing experience. The staff were so friendly, and the food was excellent. Portion sizes were very generous, my husband and I both left feeling absolutely stuffed.
I'm a huge lover of Japanese food, so for me this was such a treat, the kind of restaurant I would expect to have to travel to London for, just a short drive away!
I had the Chirashi, basically a bowl of sushi rice topped with mixed sashimi. The sashimi was well cut and you can taste the great quality of the fish. I also had a tomago roll which was a sweet little side. The sushi rice itself is made very well, incredibly tasty and sticky enough to easily eat with chopsticks but not clumpy. I also had the jasmine tea which complemented the meal well.
My husband had the Gyu Don Beef with a side of Prawn Tempura. The Gyu Don Beef was flavourful, and the tempura prawns were cooked perfectly.
We each had a dessert, my husband had the custard dorayaki which he enjoyed, and I had the Kyoto Mochi which was the perfect finish to the meal. It tasted amazing and the texture of the mochi was perfect!
The atmosphere and decor are lovely, I cannot wait to come back. As much as I loved what I ate tonight, I cannot wait to try the other delectable...
