Olney Pancake Parlour — Restaurant in England

We have eaten here numerous times. Previously I'd have rated it very highly but with the new ownership things definitely don't feel the same. We ordered food checking the wait would be less than 40 minutes... 45 minutes later the food arrives (our little one was very hungry by this point). Not great but it was was busy so I can accept this, even though 3 couples seated after us ate first. However, what is driving this rating is the fact they brought a gluten containing sausage to my wife on her gluten free plate (we'd specifically said not to bring the sausage as they contain gluten). Not only this but those scrambled eggs were disgusting and undercooked and the bacon hard as leather. Still after all of this I wasn't going to leave the review.... however, at the end of the meal they said the kitchen confirmed they hadn't put the sausage on the plate, essentially calling us liars. Well here is a lovely picture of the terrible food and poor allergen control measures in all its glory.....

Now the Olney kitchen may feel a bit dated but they are much friendlier and give you better quality food so we'll be going there...

Really looking forward to trying this place and went on Monday morning, had booked but there was no need. Waitress was very pleasant but didn't seem to have any help, probably because a load of staff in the kitchen were having a row for all to hear, especially us as we were near the back of the cafe. Very unprofessional and awkward and not the chilled experience we had hoped for. My American pancakes clearly weren't freshly made as only warm as if reheated, possibly even bought in, very disappointing. My daughter had a breakfast and her pot of beans were cold, they hadn't even heated them, just put on plate, probably because they were too busy arguing. We asked for them to be reheated and still came back luke warm and all juice no beans, so they weren't eaten. The Waitress said she would take some off the bill which turned out to be 10%, not even the price of one coffee. Coffee wasnt great asked for extra hot but wasnt very hot and literally finished them before the food came. Definitely won't be back, hate to see how they function if it's busy. Very disappointing! Very excited to try this establishment given good reviews, sadly left feeling very disappointed.

I wasn’t feeling a sweet so opted for a savoury tuna mayo baguette, now granted that’s not the most exciting of menu items but I expected it to be a high end and flavourful sandwich. Sadly it was neither, very bland, dry and underwhelming.

Worse however, was the service. We were seated on a very cramped, broken table where the top was detached from the base so it felt like it was going to fall off every 2 minutes. Then when food arrived, firstly it was not our order it was another tables. When our food actually arrived it was only the first 2 plates, another 11 minutes passed before the remaining 2 plates finally turned up. We were told this was because of a baby shower group in the back room (a group that turned up after us and ordered after us)!

Finally to add insult, my wife’s food came out wrong to her order despite the server specifically asking the question of this particular option.
