I made a bookings for two rooms on Christmas Day We checked in at 3pm and I asked to confirm if one of my rooms had a cot. I was told these were limited and unless I had asked for one he couldnât guarantee one would be free. I advised I had contacted someone called Noreen in July to confirm my request as I wasnât sure it would have been noted given we booked via booking.com and Noreen had confirmed my request.
Upon entry to the room there was no cot. I saw housekeeping in the corridor and asked for one. It was at this point a lady arrived - I now know her name to be Letty.
She was incredibly rude, raised her voice and told me that no one had let her know we needed a cot. I advised her that I had confirmed this back in July. She again repeated no one had told her. I pointed out poor communication within the hotel wasnât my concern. She went off and came back with a cot, slamming it down on the floor and saying âwe charge ÂŁ20 for these. Youâve already paid to stay so I donât know what we doâ. I told her I wasnât paying for a cot as at no point in time had anyone advised there was a cost.
She asked where I wanted the cot putting up and then started dragging chairs around the room saying there wasnât enough space. She walked off after barking orders at Millie to âjust put it upâ. I had to help Millie set up the cot as she was struggling to do it. She told Millie to put a towel over the base. We werenât even offered a single sheet folded around it. It didnât make for a comfortable nights sleep for my son as the towel was scratchy and hard.
We came down for breakfast on Boxing Day at 8.45am and Letty was in the restaurant. We went to sit at a table and she said we couldnât sit there and said âover thereâ and pointed to another part of the restaurant. She was incredibly abrupt.
I asked for a high chair and this was slammed on the floor beside me. I moved a chair to make room for the high chair so my son could sit at the table, she came back and picked up the chair I had moved and huffed loudly. At this point I told Letty she was being rude and asked her to move away. She started raising her voice to me saying ârude. Iâm not rude. No no.â Again I asked her to leave the area but she continued to shout in front of other customers quite loudly that she wasnât being rude. She did eventually walk off.
We ordered breakfast and I asked for a yoghurt for my son. I was told this wasnât possible as it couldnât be put through the till. I was told the server would look at what was in the kids menu but she then clocked off and never came back.
We sadly waited over 90 minutes for breakfast. Whilst waiting a man went to the young manager and said his wife had arrived and could she have a fried breakfast. Her food came out within 5 mins whilst we were still waiting for our food.
When the food did arrive it was cold.
Upon checking out I asked to speak to the young manager. I was explaining our experiences and Letty made another appearance. She started talking over me, telling the young manager that she wanted to complain about me shouting at her the day before over the cot. I advised her there had been no shouting from anyone except herself. I asked her to tone her voice down in front of my son and pointed out she was shouting, she just kept saying she wasnât shouting and that I was being rude to her.
I asked her to leave the area as she was being rude. She refused to leave so I had to ask my mother to take my son away from the area as he was beginning to get frightened by her shouting (he is only 1 years old).
The young manager asked her to calm down and leave a number of times but she refused. Letty continued shouting that she had never been rude and that I was the problem. She said she had worked there for 7 years and never had a problem with complaints. Given her attitude I find this hard to believe.
To have a member of staff speak to paying guests the way Letty spoke to myself on both occasions I dealt with her is...
Read moreHaving booked four weeks prior (and confirmed yesterday) we were extremely disappointed with the service and chose to leave. We had booked a table in the front bar area due to having young kids but were seated in the restaurant due to a mistake on their end and someone else having our table. Originally we waited 45 minutes for our order to be taken and had to order our own drinks at the bar because no one came to our table. When we initially arrived at 2pm we placed the kids food order and were told itâd be 20 minutes. When we ordered 45 minutes later we still hadnât received the kids food. After waiting another 45 minutes, we still hadnât received any food. The waitress was unsure how long the wait would be and the kitchen was extremely overwhelmed. Around 1 hour 30 since our arrival we questioned how long the food would be and it was still a 30 min plus wait. We discussed with the staff and agreed that they werenât sure on the wait time so we would cancel our order then finish our drinks outside. We ended up having to leave to go elsewhere after 2 hours. In the time we were there we saw multiple other tables also cancel and leave due to long wait times, little communication and a sense of being overwhelmed from the staff team. Overall disappointing experience for a Motherâs Day meal. Such a shame as the Bull is a lovely pub and extremely well furnished. Iâd still recommend this to go for a drink but itâll be a while before I try this as a...
Read moreMe my partner and son came here today for an evening meal and I can't rate the staff any higher than 5 stars. The member of staff who took us to the table was super polite and we ordered drinks. We were greeted with the warmest of welcomes from Stephanie as we arrived at the table and introduced to Hannah as our waitress. Our drinks arrived very quickly and we decided what mains we were having. We ordered the soup of the day and garlic foccacia bread to arrive with our mains of garlic Kiev and burger and fries. All food arrived In good time and looked beautiful. The portions were huge and we tucked in. My Kiev had a lovely garlic sauce in a little pot that complimented it well. The broccoli it was served with was perfect. The soup came with sour dough bread and real butter in a massive portion. The foccacia bread was also huge and tasted good so dipped that in the soup also. I had a cheeky bit of my partners burger and it was really good and looked great. We finished off the food and ordered one more drink and toyed with the idea of pudding but the portions were so big we will leave that for another day. Stephanie came over before we left for a little chat and was a very attentive and engaging member of staff with a great personality. Thank you to the Bull for a nice evening and we hope to return at some point...
