Orchid Restaurant at the Studley Hotel — Restaurant in England

I recently dined at The Orchid Hotel in Harrogate and my experience far exceeded my expectations. The warm and inviting atmosphere from the moment I walked in immediately set the tone for an enjoyable evening.

Now, onto the food - wow! The dishes at The Orchid Hotel are absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend the Salt & Chilli Squid enough, as it had the perfect combination of crispy texture and delightful flavours. The Pork Tonkatsu, which I was told was a family recipe, was also a standout with its tender pork and flavourful sauce, creating a truly memorable dish.

The Crispy Lemon Chicken stole the show for me. It was hands down the best I've ever tasted. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a crispy coating and a refreshing zing of lemon.

Aside from the incredible food, I was impressed by the passion and dedication of the new owner. Their enthusiasm for pan-Asian cuisine shines through in every aspect of the dining experience.

The service at The Orchid Hotel was equally noteworthy. The staff were attentive, speedy, and genuinely caring. It was evident that they all share a passion for their work, which added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

Whether you're a fan of pan-Asian cuisine or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend visiting The Orchid Hotel...

Not sure what experience all these 5/4 star reviewers got, because I didn't get it. This has to be one of the worst restaurants I've had the privilege of visiting, and that's no exaggeration. Yes, it looks and acts the part, but this is nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I don't leave reviews normally, but under these circumstances, I felt it necessary.

Imagine a low quality Chinese takeaway, using processed and frozen meats that have been pre-cooked and left for weeks in a freezer, mixed into a sauce to mask the taste. The starter, Aromatic Lamb was dry and overcooked, most likely due to microwaving. The main (three-way duck), to put it kindly, was simple inedible.

For a mid-range price tag, I'd honestly suggest eating else where in Harrogate or to avoid the three-way duck, because what I ate wasn't duck.

This review is for the Sunday Lunch Buffet experience...

Upon walking in, the restaurant came across as very busy and a little chaotic. The lack of windows (where we were seated) combined with the low ceilings gave the place a rather claustrophobic feel. We were never asked what we wanted to drink... but luckily a bottle of water appeared on our table. I will just mention one more negative... many of the desserts were still frozen when displayed as part of the buffet.

However, the starters and the mains were very tasty. I especially remember a seafood "curry" main featuring huge mussels and amazing flavours.

We walked out of Orchid having eaten way too much actually as there were so many different dishes to sample. If you come here purely for the food then you won't be disappointed but don't come for the atmosphere or service...
