We took my parents for dinner the other night. Not great. Firstly the lighting on the drive in is poor especially in the dark and rain. We were the first ones in the restaurant 6:00pm. Very bright, white and stark. Shown straight to our table which was the only one set without napkins. Some cutlery was also missing. Given Table d'hote menus which did not appeal to all of us. No à la carte menu available instead. No non-alcoholic drinks! By this I mean beer, wine, cider, gin. Only coke etc. The starters were just something to nibble on. Neither here nor there. The main course of cod was delicious but white fish on white risotto on a white plate did not look appealing. (It was stuffed with a spinach leaf. Not wrapped in it.) The mushroom starter was ok but fairly tasteless, the main course of duck was basically raw!!! I often have duck served pink but this was oozing blood!! The waitress twice offered to take it back and to get it cooked a bit more. I refused as the whole meal just tasted of duck fat. I did however, take the duck breast home for my rottweiler.
