I am writing a book and wanted a change of scene. I was in the cafe for just over an hour and spent £10.50. It got to 11am, and the staff seemed keen for me to leave to make way for the lunchtime rush. I felt that was a bit unfair because I'd been careful to make sure I wasn't just taking up space (I'd even offered to move for a young family who came in as I felt my table was better than theirs) and I did spend money. This place has been going down hill since being taken over, but despite previous poor service, we try to support small local business so have continued to go in occasionally.
Today was the last straw. Having gone in with my family, I asked a customer sat on her own at a large table whether she'd mind moving to a smaller table (a guy at an adjacent table even said he'd leave so she could move to his) but she said she'd be told it was OK by the staff and stayed put with her coffee, pointing at the adjacent table too small for lunch with 2 kids pedantically counting "1-2-3-4 chairs" out loud. What a lovely lady.
We won't be returning..... We had a much friendlier experience and great food at Cafe St-Louis instead. Suggest anyone reading this...
