this was my 2nd visit to this restaurant, there was a 2nd because the 1st was very nice, sadly not so sure there will be a 3rd, I have been to dozens of Chinese restaurants all over the UK and today was gobsmacked when I noticed they decided to charge me 5£ for a tea for a single person (I was alone eating) the second pot I asked to be filled with hot water was in fact extra 2.5£, it's just shameless to add this to the bill, the lack of consideration for the client is surreal, I was so speechless I couldn't even talk about this matter with the staff because I am not that type of person, I won't come back that is for sure, a shame because the food was quite good and looked authentic, staff seemed nice too apart from the brilliant mind that decided to stuff me two teas!

Have dined here a few times in the past, and never a complaint from us. Always friendly and courteous, whether it's eating in or taking away. Most recently, we tried the set menu at £24 a head. The portion sizes we're perfect and food was as per usual, beautiful. I can't complain over anything. Brilliant!

We called in to eat because we were already in town. The restaurant was fully booked but because we were there early, they seated us anyway. We had the banquet for two. The food came out promptly and was well cooked and presented. Service with a smile so all was well. You could eat here with confidence.

We went out with family last weekend for dinner and had a very nice evening.

We arrived 15 minutes early and they asked us to wait in the bar area until our seating time, which is a very good idea. We were seated they left us to look through the menu. The waiter who served us was lovely and had a very cheeky smile. He was very patient as we ordered quite a bit and had dietary restrictions. As I have a dairy and egg allergy, I had to ask about dishes as the only allergy that was listed was nuts. Our waiter did have to run to the kitchen and check on ingredients in a dish but he was back in a flash. When our food arrived it was delicious. As I was dishing up my fried rice, there was egg in it and it had to be returned to the kitchen and they had to remake with no egg. As I had already put food on my plate, they brought me a fresh plate and fresh rice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and food. Pearl City is a wonderful restaurant. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

The only thing I would advise the owners to do, would be to make allergens clearer on the menu and also train the staff so they know the different allergens, so they can check with guests when they order.

We will...

We had a table booked for 9 people…this was to be a catch up for us with family coming from Devon, Retford and Doncaster. Booked on the same day was an 18th birthday party. The music was so loud we just couldn’t speak, this was turned down for us only to have a belly dancer arrive with full music and shouting! We had to ask several times to order our food, the waiter not at all accommodating to our requests. The food was edible, I’ll leave it at that. My main complaint was our lack of attention, we had to ask for cutlery, nobody came and asked if our food was ok, no further bar requests when we sat down, a waitress dropped a steamer lid on our 80 year old friend….all in all a shambles. Our bill was over £200 and on hindsight we should have held some back as once we’d paid and went on to complain to the manager all we got was sorry. If you’ve got a huge party booked pearl city then please in future limit your other customers as everyone paying demands the same service, clearly last night the only important guests were those at the party. Very disappointed, our...

Ourselves and friends booked a table for Sarurday night, we was told a large party was booked in, that it could be noisy and a belly dancer would be there ( none of this put us off ) When we arrived the party was in full swing and the belly dancer was entertaining. In fact the belly dancer was fab. Yes the music was a bit loud but on polite request it was turned down. However, we had been forwarned it could be noisy. The food was exceptional. We ordered chicken, prawn and beef dishes, all piping hot and delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The party were friendly and chatty and apologised if they were too noisy. They offered us drinks and gave us a slice of cake. We enjoyed their entertainment, their hospitality and the laughs they provided. All in all a...
