Peggy's Diner — Restaurant in England

First impressions: upon entering, I am surprised at the size of the diner, especially how far back it stretches. Much larger than the property frontage would suggest. *note to self: it's a tardis. A sign requests that I wait to be seated but I am greeted almost instantaneously by a waitress who leads me to a table toward the rear of the diner. As I follow my lead, the standard of cleanliness throughout the diner becomes almost as crystal clear as the diner itself. This place sparkles and the decor is tastefully timeless. *note to self: no need to check the cutlery. A menu each for my companion and I to peruse is placed on the table as we are seated. I ask if I should order at the counter to be informed: "No, we come to you" *note to self: wow, impressed. The choice is vast, with the diner catering magnificently for those with specific dietry lifestyles and requirements. *note to self: must tell my Vegan friends Our order is taken in a timely manner and we are soon served our drinks; a Chai Tea and an Oat Latte. There are other customers throughout the diner; couples, families with young children, senior citizens. The waitresses are equally attentive to all. *note to self: I like the atmosphere here. As I finish my drink, a waitress appears with two plates of piping hot, freshly cooked and well presented food. The portion sizes are generous and the food tasty. The diner does accept card payments, but I paid with cash, as requested in a politely phrased wall hung notice. Final thoughts: Very pleasantly surprised at the whole experience. My first time trying Peggy's Diner was during Covid rules, on the 14th of Janurary 2021. They are currently offering home delivery and I will tell you now, it is worth doing! We ordered two full English breakfasts and given that the food has to go out and be delivered between being cooked and arriving in your lap, I was expecting it to be a little tired, or at least for the eggs to be cold but no. Nothing seemed to have been under heat lamps, the eggs where hot and properly cooked (no hard rims or gooey whites) and the customer service both on the phone and at my front door where friendly, happy and helpful. Called in here 6 July after looking on google maps for a nice cafe to have breakfast. We were very warmly greeted by the owner. When we came to order, I ordered the vegan breakfast, but was told I could change items as I was vegetarian, so could have eggs if I wanted. My husband ordered a full English. Nothing is too much trouble. We both really enjoyed our food . Afterwards we had a long conversation with the owner about different food allergies and she can cater for them all and she is very enthusiastic and enlightening. Highly recommended Peggy’s diner.
