Pepe's — Restaurant in England

I have been a loyal and regular customer of Pepes ever since they opened in dunstable with nothing but praise Pepes for their high quality, fresh and delicious food. It is incredibly unfortunate that after a very disappointing experience today, I will not be returning. There was a different manager present today who was the complete opposite of the usual manager present. The usual guy greets us with a big smile and often says "paneer wrap for you, yes? You love it".

My boyfriend attended and ordered a paneer wrap. We have ordered this atleast 20 times since they opened, as I always have the same thing. I was such a fan of pepes that I recieved a pepes giftcard for Christmas. The female server greeted my boyfriend by saying "hi how are you", to which he reverted 'great thank you how are you'. The female server seemed not to understand this as she then responded 'rice?' In an inquisitive tone. Attributing this awkward exchange to a language barrier, My boyfriend then proceeded to order my usual and waited. There was also confusion with the pepes giftcard (all 3 staff members present front of house appeared confused by how to process the giftcard and reluctant to process it) my boyfriend recieved the order but the dip (which he orderd at the till) had been forgotten. perhaps the colleague thought he said 'rice' when he said 'chilli dip'. easily done.

When he arrived home. The paneer wrap was chicken. These instances can occur mistakenly, so whilst this was a mild inconvenience, i was not frustrated. This was until I had the displeasure of a conversation with the staff member who answered the store phone. I will summarise my experience in a few bullet points:

-the employee told me that my boyfriend ordered a chicken wrap. I responded that this was not the case as he said the same words that he always has and we have never had any issue before. He said It is not possible that my boyfriend ordered paneer. I said ask the server and he said he could not as she had finished her shift and gone home. The conversation continued to go round in circles and affter a few minutes he decided that actually the server told him my boyfriend ordered chicken. Perhaps she popped back in for some rice.

-the employee told me that he would give me free food next time. I politely declined as I wanted food there and then. He said he was unable to replace it.

I asked to speak to the manager (the same manager that he spoke to and checked things with atleast 3 times during our 7 minute converstion) but he was out for delivery and unable too speak to me, allegedly.

the employee began to mumble in a manner intended to mimic the sound of of a phone line breaking up. Perhaps it was a poor telephone connection, but it was quite unfortunate that the line connection(which was breaking up supposedly) was strong enough for me to be able to clearly hear sniggering and laughing whilst the employee was 'losing connection'.

The call ended with me asking directly, will you be replacing my order as i cannot eat it. And the colleague simply replied no. He then placed me on hold without warning to which point I terminated the call.

To the franchise owners - i would advise investment in some customer service education for your franchisees as irrespective of food quality, bad customer service is insidious and can destroy a businesses customer base. Over the remake of a £4.99 wrap (which im sure has a decent profit margin) you will not be...

The best experience of my life!The seasoning and the flavours stood...

Since this restaurant opened I have had nothing but great service and fantastic food. Until New Years’ Day! Placed an order of just under £30, I was told at 19:10 that the food was on its way, it arrived at 19:55! First, the wrap I ordered was Mild to which they sent hot, I called them and they said they would give me money off my next order, to which I turned down as I wanted to eat, then they offered to replace the wrap, I said please replace fries too as they will be cold by the time they redeliver. Well then I tried a chip, it was like rubber, like it had been reheated multiple times. They went in the bin. I then got a call to ask if they redelivered could they have the old food back? To give to someone else maybe? The chicken burger, well the wrapper was stuck to the bun and would not come off. The replacement never came, and after sending this all to JustEat I have now been refunded. But the “manager” on the phone was disgusting. Lost a regular...
