I visited this cafe today.Having read reviews I felt like I was in the wrong place. We had 2 cups of coffee they were both nice.I went into the cafe for a second cup as we were sat outside. The person working in their said "We haven't got any toilets there are some over there or you can use a bush" I explained i was after a second cup of coffee. I was told it would be £3 not excessive but also not the advertised price. I said" you are advertising this at £2.95. I was told I always do this. Now 5 pence is not a lot I know. On talking to my friend outside they told me they had paid £6. 5 pence added to each cup. A lady who was eating told us she had been charged an extra 25pence. Again not excessive but over the advertised price 5 pence a cup and 25 pence a meal over the course of a day multiplied by a year is a nice little earner.

Amazing bacon roll and homemade millionaire shortbread. The owner was lovely looking after my bike while I went to the toilet. It might not look fancy but you'll not get a better service and the food was great. Will visit again.

Whether your starting or completing a local walk or Cycle or Just visiting the town I can recommend The Poets cafe as a great cafe for Tea, Coffee or good english Breakfast. The cafe is named for its proximity to the former homes of Thomas Hardy and William Barnes among others and its current poet in Residence David Caddy. You will be hosted by Yasser who has owned the cafe for many years and is happy to answer any questions about touring or visiting the area. Ask him about the local wines... Well...

A nice little quaint cafe, staff were welcoming. Food was cooked to order. I ordered a Latte and a full English which came to £9.90 which I thought was fair. Unfortunately 2 slices of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 toast, 1 tomato and beans is not what I was expecting. All of this produce was purchased from either the one stop next door or the coop over the road. I will not be returning to spend my hard earned money on...
