Highs: Went here for a Christmas meal and cabaret show. Felt very well cared for. The food and cocktails were really delicious for the price and the venue is beautiful - the exterior of the building is very unassuming but the manager designed the interior in a classically decadent style so it is like stepping back in time! - Every staff member got a Covid test beforehand and even though they were short 11 staff after that, they still put on a brilliant adult friendly show with lip syncing, singing and even stripping. The outfits and performance quality were great. Lows: - The host performer, though a brilliant singer, could have created a more charismatic character to entertain us with. - The organisation is managed centrally by an office in London, and seems like they don't update or check the ticket booking system regularly. We had some confusion with the tickets because of this, unfortunately we arrived at the venue on the wrong day only to find it closed, but the manager was very understanding of the problem and looked after us. She let us transfer our tickets and approached us personally at the event to say hello.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this review after leaving such a gleaming review the year before. It pains me to say I would seriously consider before booking and paying in advance that you pay close attention to some recent reviews. We paid £428 for a burlesque evening with a four course meal and really did not expect what was delivered considering the premium cost. When we first arrived we overheard the doorman mention that it was more quiet than usual for a Friday night (probably because cause people are just not returning anymore) and he wasn’t wrong with just 25-30 attending. Due to the low numbers there was only one waitress serving drinks and food so ended up eating mostly cold food (which should have been hot). We ordered a chablis with the food but the waitress returned to inform us that they had ran out and she offered an alternative, the alternative was not the issue but the fact that the Chablis remained on the bill was. Unfortunately we did not realise until the following morning when we inspected the bill and then also noticed that the cheeky gits had also put a 15% service charge not only on the drinks that we purchased that evening but also the initial £428 cost of the tickets so the service charge amounted to £111. We made the best of the evening and had a laugh and a drink but truth be told the whole thing was nothing short of shoddy, we were not expecting moulin rouge but as it was described as primarily burlesque with humour and entertainment thrown in it was kind of expected that the evening would at least revolve around burlesque. The previous year we watched in amazement as the entertainers wowed us and the bear amused us. Sadly Dolly Rocket was a no show, she allegedly felt ill but looking at the reviews it’s a regular occurrence and this time round we had the bear as the main compare and singer, actually it was pretty much him all night and sadly he is no singer, a great entertainer and a lovely bloke but no singer and certainly not one that warrants £100 per ticket. Almost 2 months on we are still chasing the post of the Chablis which was easily rectified baring in mind they should have been able to check their stockists to confirm that they had indeed ran out. Lack of atmosphere, lack of interest from the entertainers and staff, diabolical food and zero atmosphere, reputation will carry you so far and from what I can see the reputation is well and truly tarnished, jeez someone change the management at this place or it will be out of business within 12 months.

Absolute joke of a night out. Seriously if you’re thinking of going, save yourself the disappointment. The acts are like a cheap circus. The main man/woman hosting looks like a drag act gone wrong and tries to be funny without success. The drinks are standard pub drinks double the price. The food is so poor when it came out my friend said ‘what is this? A piece of cheap cod with a bit of dolmio sauce?’ … Which it actually was. The charges are through the roof for everything, service (poor service), the drinks (double price), the tickets you already paid for (extra charge at the end), I’m surprised they didn’t try to charge to go outside for a smoke!… Talking of which, when we did go outside for a smoke, the security guard couldn’t even open the door due to a broken bolt on the door, crazy really seeing as that is the only fire escape from the cramped building. I pointed that out to the manager, but received an email from the director telling me he’d report me to the local council, local police, and local authorities for threatening behaviour… What does he think the police, council and authorities will do? What a numpty. In addition to this, if you book a table for 6 like I did, bear in mind you can only fit 4 people on the table comfortably, 5 people and you can’t move, 6 and you have to grab an extra chair to make it work. Honestly guys, way better nights out to be had in Brighton, the 6 of us are all Brighton born and bred, we all agreed this place is a joke. Lastly, for the waitress who tried to bribe us with some vodka mixed with orange juice in exchange for a 5 star review…. Good luck with that! Absolutely mediocre night out.

Where do i begin Well i made our original booking 3 years ago before covid struck, all in all we had to reschedule our visit 3 times..... we should of taken that as sign! After numberous converstions with people via email and phone about it being an important occasion and us all being sat on a long table together (16 of us) we arrive and are taken up to a balcony and plonked on 3 seperate tables which had little to NO room to maneuver on we were literally squeezed in back to back. The poor waitress barely had room to swing a car let alone service food/drinks. Due to the nature of our positioning and tables half of us were unable to view any of the show unless we were stood up..... impossible when youre also ment to be having a sit down meal. The food came out luke warm and dry, with no sides and just a bit of fish/chicken on the plate. At the end of the meal i was over charged by £350, this was refunded but an inconvenience as it took several days to clear back to me. When email proud after to say how unhappy i was with the situation we were left in i recieved an email response which was conpletely insincere and completely lacking empathy. I responded saying i wasnt happy with their explanation..... this is over a week ago now and have heard nothing back. Poor show proud cabaret, we wont be returning any time soon

We went for the drag brunch.. honestly would rather have not eaten or drunk! We had the vegan bento box which honestly tastes of nothing, and the "unlimited booze" is for one hour and is only for a punch drink that the staff didn't fully know what was in it! We were also initially sat behind a barrier squished next to the stairs, despite paying the same as everyone else.... luckily the people on the table in front moved and we got their table. The saving grace of it was that the drag Queens were fantastic, and the staff were very friendly. The cocktails that you had to pay for separately were good, although inconsistent with other customers getting passionfruit in theirs despite ordering the same thing, and the staff not giving us the prosecco that it was meant to come with. Also be aware that despite us paying in advance for tickets (including the food) they tried to charge us for all of it again. Would only go again if I had the option NOT to pay to eat..

We were looking forward to this and travelled to Brighton specifically to see this show. We arrived at the advertised time, as did other people. The place was closed and a local told us that it is never open on Sundays. Luckily, I booked this using a credit card. They have not responded to my email or phone calls from myself and other people. Keep well away from this outfit. UPDATE: 2nd August 2024 Design My Night contacted me about my one star review of them on Trustpilot. They have forwarded my email onto Proud Cabaret Brighton who have not responded. My credit card company have opened a dispute and I have contacted Trading Standards to investigate this company. After further research, I have found that my experience is a common occurrence. UPDATE: 7th October 2024 Despite Design My Night emailing them, they have still not contacted me. Such a relief that I used my credit card and my money is refunded under the Section 75 Agreement.
