Quaff & Tipple — Restaurant in England

Met with friends on Saturday morning for coffee and cake. Ordered cake, which looked lovely, but when it came it was extremely dry, as was my friends. We have had coffee and cake here several times and it’s been delicious. I very quietly took them up to the counter and apologised, saying it wasn’t very nice. Before I could finish, the lady snatched the plates off me, went to the till and refunded me. I said I didn’t want a refund, I’d like something else…. I was told….. they are all the same and if I don’t like that cake ….. I won’t like any of the others….. they are all made the same!? I find this hard to believe as there were vegan muffins and fruit cake, pastel de nata, cookies, croissants….. I’m pretty sure they aren’t all made the same?

I am a Southbourne resident and I will not be going to this cafe again. Very rude lady, who I believe is the owner and makes the cakes. Plenty of other cafes with delicious cakes to go to. AVOID unless you want to be served by a misery...

Simply the best coffee in Southbourne (and, possibly, Bournemouth). I had a flat white, and saw other clients having single shot lattes and iced coffees as well as teas. I was so impressed by the Spanish lady who bakes and cooks as well as the Baristo that I asked to see the lunch menu. I chose the house sandwich on dark rye bread (I could have had white baguette) which exceeded my expectations and was beautifully presented. I look forward to returning with friends to taste the various ploughman and salad options amongst other healthy and tasty choices. I really enjoyed looking at the specialist ales, ciders, soft drinks and meads for sale and learning more about these from the owner of Quaff and Tipple. This is a quirky little place In the forever changing Southbourne high street. Lovely to see something different to the usual cafes and bistros. Quaff and tipple definitely keep it unique. A really appealing menu made it hard to decide, but we were pleased with the food chosen. Service was slightly different to what we are use to but cannot be faulted on enthusiasm for their ingredients and produce they offer. Who recommend for a different lunch and a choice of an unbelievable amount of different Ales, Beers and lagers....
