Red Chilli Buckingham — Restaurant in England

Based on a previous good experience we decided as a family of seven to visit this restaurant to celebrate a family member’s 18th birthday.

The restaurant has very nice decor and our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. We ordered beers and a bottle of house wine while we decided on our food. We choose the Sunday banquet which consists of a starter, main dish, rice or nan, side dish and a coffee for after. We realised that seven of everything was too much food and as one of our party wasn’t feeling too well and another was a very small eater we decided that five banquets would accommodate us perfectly. Unfortunately the waiter didn’t agree “sharing a banquet was not allowed” was his response. Despite explaining our situation he said that this is the policy of the restaurant. We were not prepared to be manipulated and we informed him that two would not eat so we insisted that five orders be taken.

Unfortunately our poorly guest took a turn for the worse and after the starters we decided to leave and take the meal as a take away (without the coffee’s) On leaving and paying the bill the owner claimed that there had been a communication problem and we could have ordered other dishes to share.

Restaurants have to balance generating income (it cost us over £140) and giving good customer care on this occasion they definitely got it wrong. Not the celebration our 18 year old wanted...

We ordered a delivery for two. My partner ordered a butter chicken which was yellow (not sure if we actually received a passanda?) and my pathia tasted very bland. Called up to explain that the butter chicken wasn’t very nice at all - to be asked if we even know what one tasted like…

Our food was also warm at very best to which they said it’s because we live too far away. If 3.4 miles away is too far to provide hot food then maybe don’t offer delivery?

To top it off, the two staff members we spoke to on the phone were extremely rude and we will not be returning. There are lots of great curry houses in Buckingham so please pick wisely before spending your hard earned cash!!

I decided to bite the bullet - pay our money again & go back to an old favourite where we got a (red) butter chicken and a pathia - both of which...

This is the second time we have visited this restaurant. We live in Sussex. I am sorry not to have pictures of the food, but I can highly recommend this restaurant. Superb food, some different items from the normal offerings. I tried different dishes each time and have been more than pleased with both the hel0 choosing and the flavours!! Also generous portions. Great service, very accomodating and helpful, polite, professional and friendly. Good pricing. Reasonable for the quality of the food!! Do I sound like I was impressed, well I have been. I only tend to review those who impress, or truly dissapoint... this restaurant is really worth a visit... you won't be disappointed!! 😊 Oh, and a free drink at with the bill, plus chocolates, and a rose on leaving... what more...
