Summary: I think the staff are still getting to grips with their new menu, but they are trying their best. I will go another couple of times before I decide if it is going to be a regular thing or not!

Decor: This place has been decorated throughout, it is clean, and well presented. The tables were spotless and there were plenty of highchairs available. Plenty more seating outside. The toilets no longer stink either ; )

Staff: The staff that I met were polite, attentive, & very helpful. Smart uniforms too.

Menu: The new menu is a menu for a chain pub but is full of different choices, with lots of variations eg six types of burger, with two toppings included, then options on further toppings, and various side orders/upgrades etc. They still have their curry section. On the hotplate werre some unappetising looking pie, with shrivelled up roasties, chips, dry looking pasta (veggie option). We think it was their deal of the day menu. It didn,t look tasty so we ordered off the menu.

Atmosphere: In one section there are three booths that have monitors in them for the kids - I,m not entirely certain I agree with them but all three were in use during my visit. Plus if it helps kids to sit down whilst Mum &Dad finish their drinks........! In combination with the monitors there was pleasant background music, it meant that it was a tiny bit noisy for conversation. There is always have the option to sit in a section without monitors. During my visit there were a few local families in. Plus a few adults having a quiet drink at the bar, or sat at various tables.

Our food: Staff came very promptly to double check our food order. It took over an hour for it to be served. My food was freezing & was sent back, we were offered, desserts, coffees and apologies for it. We had a refund instead. They cooked me another hot sandwich, the portion was quite small. I would have eaten the side salad but it was only 3 pieces of little gem lettuce with some red onion on it. Disappointingly, the onion gravy is still Bisto with some onions thrown on the top.

Conclusion? I,ll try it again but I am not yet convinced it beats the Half Moon or the Green Dragon. I wonder how they,ll cope when it...

We often call when travelling between Hull and Leeds. Today we called to get lunch . My wife has an allergy to potatoes (not sweet potatoes just ordinary ones) . She wanted the Hunters chicken which comes with chips. So I explained and asked if she could have a few extra onions rings to make up for the chips. She often asks this and in most places they are happy to oblige . It is not as though onion rings are vastly expensive . No was the answer . Our till is not set up to allow that . So I pointed out it would b good customer service and hardly upset the accounts to give her a few onion rings . No was the answer. Now my wife wanted a full meal so she changed her order to Lasagne which comes with garlic bread and salad. I then ordered my meal , a full sized vegetarian chilli. This came with jalapenos which I stated I loved, sour cream, salsa and guacamole. Then I ordered a large Americano coffee and asked for a dairy alternative : soya , oat or almond milk . No I was told there is no call for it and its expensive . Again I pointed out most places have several . No one asks for it was what I was told. I pointed out that I have a dairy intolerance and dairy makes me produce mucous. I also pointed out that soya etc cost less than a pound and lasts five days from opening and that if there was a notice up saying you have a dairy alternative that folk may ask. Especially if it was on the menu. No we don't have it . When my meal came there were NO JALAPENOS which were on the menu. The sour cream was a vegan one . The barmaid did not want me to have it if it had dairy in it (but milk in coffee was fine). My meal and my wife's had wooden stake things in stating allergies . Even though there was nothing we were allergic to . Apart from the milk that they gave me in a jug . Most disappointed to be treated like this especially when your rivals are so accommodating . This was as bad as the lack of customer care in...

Top Class! This was our first visit to this venue as a family birthday meal celebration. Although there was just one person behind the bar, Carlos, you wouldn’t know. Although there were a few people waiting to be served nobody waited more than a couple of minutes, I’m sure he was in three places at once! Drinks were ordered and we checked out the food menu. All four in our party chose different meals and the ordering process was very fast and efficient and care was taken to ensure the order was accurate and nobody had allergies to any of the food we had ordered. The food arrived very promptly with the jovial Carlos turning his hand to table service now too. The portions were more than adequate, not too much to be outfaced but enough to satisfy a healthy appetite. The food itself was great. Three completely empty and one very nearly empty plate were testimony to the taste and quality. It would be fair to say the decor was looking a little bit tired but Carlos assured us that an update was imminent. Finally the loos, always a clue to the standard of a venue in my mind and the Red Hawk got full marks for me, clean, well appointed and as fragrant as any facility I have ever used. Thank you for your hospitality and friendly service Carlos and team, we look forward to...

It's ok for a pub chain. Wife, her mum and I popped in for lunch. Mother had steak pie & chips and the verdict was very good. The wife had a chicken & bacon salad with cous cous and it was piled high and really good too. I had the pulled pork & beef burrito with tortilla chips and this is why only 3 stars as you can see in the pic that there was very little filling in it. After asking the lovely bar lady (manageress?) It turns out it is all pre portioned and bagged. If I'd been on my own it wouldve been a 1 star.

The red Hawk (Named after the jet aircraft made in Brough) is a large modern spacious pub. Even though it was quite busy when I called in, there was lots of seating available. Mainly aimed at the food trade There is a large and varied menu. There is an excellent choice of beers, Largers and cider. There is also cask conditioned real ale, which was in excellent form when I called in. The staff are very friendly and efficient. It's a nice cosy, comfortable pub. There is an attractive outside seating area.

Really nice FoH clean lines and tables good atmosphere, as expected from m and b. But... The food is disgusting 🤢, not the first time I've had fish and chips and it's come out swimming In oil and overcooked and dry. I thought there was no point in complaining because they just can't get it right As an ex M&B chef I think it's disgusting that the chefs and waiting staff think this is an acceptable serve. In fact I know it's not the standard because I used to serve the same food.
