Celebrated with family for a birthday. The attention to detail was amazing. Beautiful confetti on the table!
All of our choices for dinner were top notch. Pan fried grey mullet with grapefruit and prawn salsa was epic. The flavour was stunning! I had never tried mullet but now I know what I've been missing! I also had the pleasure of sipping on some Fowey Valley Pommeau as an aperitif with grilled cornish asparagus as a starter. The asparagus was sided with Cornish Yarg croquettes which were phenomenal. I completed the meal with raspberry Eton mess and a tipple of Ruby Port. Finally sipped my way to to a blissful finish with a passionfruit Margarita.
We will definitely be going back ASAP. Highly recommend! The beauty of this place is the intimacy of the dining. It means that you can enjoy a good conversation without being drowned out by the sound of others. You also benefit from the attentive service from Kerris! Finally the chef has created dishes that even the fussy as well as those with allergies are very likely to find a dish to delight...
Read moreWe had heard about this tiny restaurant with 10 covers last year but they were fully booked so we had to wait until we came to Cornwall again to get in! Today, quite by chance, we saw the board out the front saying limited space for lunch so made the decision to see if we could get a table. Thankfully we could. This little restaurant is quite simply the best food we've had in a long time. The chef knows his ingredients and flavours so well and you can tell he must have earnt his stripes from some of the best in the industry. Cerys the waitress was very sweet, knowledgeable and interpersonal too. It's just the two of them and how they pull it off is anyones guess. The cost is well under what you'd imagine it might be and is far and away better value and taste than any high street cafe lunchtime sandwich and cake. If you're wondering if you should book a table at this little hidden gem, my advice would be just pick up the phone and get yourselves a table PDQ or like us, you may be forced to...
Read moreLovely little restaurant open for lunch and dinner on the main street in Lostwithiel behind sweet magnolias. It's one chef and one front of house so has an intimate feel - there's indoor and outdoor seating though only a couple of the outside tables have shade not usually a problem in Cornwal. I think for dinner you'd be much better off booking but for lunch should be ok walking in.
Food is beautiful and changes quite a bit - seafood features heavily as you'd expect given the location I think. Service is excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Surprisingly extensive drinks menu with quite a lot of local options. I'd say 2 courses with an alcoholic drink at lunch is going to be about £25pp probably more like 35+ for dinner so obviously not somewhere you'd go everyday but as the odd treat very worth it. Be aware service is discretionary.
Parking in lostwithiel can be quite difficult but probably find something pretty close should be free or Lostwithiel is on the train line if you don't live...
