We visited Sunny Spices last night and had a very disappointing experience. Before going, I called the restaurant to let them know we were coming for dine-in. They welcomed us on the phone, so we went there expecting everything to be fine. However, once we arrived, we were asked if we had made a booking. I explained that I had called earlier and wasn’t told about any reservation requirement. The staff member simply said, “Sorry, I didn’t know you were coming tonight,” and then told us the restaurant was fully booked and couldn’t offer us a table.
We asked for an alternative solution, and they suggested takeaway. We agreed and placed an order, which they said would take 45 minutes. We patiently waited for 45 minutes, only to be told, “Sorry, we forgot your order, it will take another 20 minutes.” At that point, we were extremely frustrated — we had already waited hungry for almost an hour. We told them to cancel the order, and the staff just said “okay.”
This is unacceptable service. If a customer calls ahead, they should be given the correct information. And making customers wait 45 minutes, only to say the order was completely forgotten, is simply unprofessional. We left disappointed, hungry, and with no food after wasting so much time. Sunny Spices really needs to improve their communication and...
Read moreUnfortunately, the food here was not at all what I was expecting. Mint sauce with poppadums was watery and no taste. Madras tasted like a bad watery tikka masala, I didnt even eat half as was making me heave as I prefer a hot curry and not sweet and a thicker sauce. Chicken tikka masala was disgusting, can't actually describe what that sauce tasted like and was also watery. My nephew ate the chicken but couldn't eat it in the sauce. Bombay potatoes were dry and had no taste, they had the skin on with lumps of brown stuff blobbed on top. The only positives were the chilli & garlic naan & poppadums were nice. Good friendly service but no atmosphere. Thankfully we are only here for the weekend but I wouldn't go back. Sorry, but this was not like any other Indian I've had before and I eat Indian every Saturday. I went back to my hotel and ate a big...
Read moreMy wife and I have recently moved into Lostwithiel. We were in India and Sri lanka last year and have to say the south Indian food here was abs wonderful and delicious. We obviously had to order the traditional masala dosa amongst other dishes and were very pleased with the flavours & freshness. Usually Cornwall has the typical Indian restaurants with the same dishes nothing that great or special and cooked with basic base ingredients but Sunny Spice can not be compared to those with its unique South Indian menu. One of the best waitresses we have experienced compared to alot of other restaurants we have dined in around the UK her name was Deepti. She was very attentive, welcoming, confident & friendly and just a pleasure to be served by. This restaurant has definitely won our hearts and will now be our regular...
