Food excellent, but accommodation is in need of work. Myself and my mother stayed for 4 nights. We were aware it was a pub and did expect some noise but not as much as there was. We were kept awake until at least midnight most nights. Also there is a pub quiz on Sunday night which again was noisy for the room upstairs. The shower as part of my room didnāt work if the people in the room next door had a bath. The en-suite bathroom and shower in rooms 1 and 2 need serious updating. Room 1 which was the room my 81 year mother was put in was severely damp. When approached by the landlord about the issues - I was told - we knew you were trouble - he also admitted that they had serious flooding issues at front of pub so he knowingly put a guest in that room and then admitted he couldnāt afford to take the room out of commission. Appalling!!! My mother got a stinking cold when she returned home no doubt due to the damp room. Room 1 could also have been cleaner as there were dead flies on the window sills. Wouldnāt recommend the accommodation unless serious updates are made and too noisy for us abyway. Would recommend the pub for food though, the breakfasts and the 1 evening meal we had there were excellent. Location is also wonderful especially for Fowey where Iāll be going to stay next time. Landlord/owner needs to learn to take constructive feedback better after all thatās the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThanks to our hosts @ Penrose B&B Chris & Heidi they highly recommended us to Globe Inn when we inquired about a good walkable restaurant from our guest house in the wonderful village of Lostwithiel. We were greeted by Jane who was an excellent server & instantly made us welcome. Kitchen closes at 830 so get there early. We made a reservation & had a lovely table in the main dining room overlooking the beautiful patio. Food was excellent we had local fresh scallops with couscous & a roasted tomato & peppers . They had 2 fresh local catch of the day specials . Both were exquisite. Hake & Sole . Lovely ambiance , cosy & felt like weād stepped back in time . The village dates back to 1189 & this was one of the highlights of our trip . Thank you for your wonderful hospitality & keep up the good work . Congrats to the Chef weāll be back to visit before we head home . Canāt comment on accommodation but if the food is anything to go by Iām sure the rooms are fit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood restaurant, terrible place to stay for the night. We booked in for two nights as part of a long distance walk through Cornwall. The restaurant/dinner experience was very good. Both of our dinners were great and the waiters were friendly. And the chef was very helpful with preparing some sandwiches for us overnight as we could not schedule ourselves for a 9am breakfast. However, if you need to sleep in Lostwithiel then reserve a room someplace else in town. The pub noise will be constant until 2am, or if it is Quiz Night at the pub, then things might get quiet by midnight. Maybe we should know better booking a room in a pub, but we have stayed at 200+ B&B's over the years with plenty of them being pubs with rooms, and this was the worst 'sleeping' experience. So definitely go to the restaurant, the chef does a great job. Just don't book a room and expect to get much sleep. Restaurant gets 4+ stars...room gets zero stars...two...
