***** the owner has replied and said I was on my phone which was why my food was cold. I was not on my phone, I didn't make or take any calls. The time on the receipt shows I had only been there a short time because I already said i got there just before 12. I was also apparently rude because i shouted my order across the room but I had already asked the server if he was coming over to take my order and he shrugged his shoulders and stayed behind the counter so i guessed he wasn't coming... Quedos on standing up for what you’ve been told by your staff member, but you should check your cameras! *****************It was Saturday just before midday. Restaurant empty. I ordered a bacon bap and a pot of tea. Both arrived quickly. The tea was very hot but tasteless as if it hadn't been brewed. The bacon was cold, the bap had greasy finger marks on it. I had a couple of bites and couldn't eat it,it was barely warm and the rind and fat was congealing. When I mentioned it was cold to the server he explained it wasn't cooked fresh but kept warm in a bain marie. And that if I wanted freshly cooked hot bacon I should come in early. So apparently it was my fault for choosing lunch time to come in and eat. He said it was precooked because they were busy, he didn't see the irony of his statement as I was the only customer. At no time did he engage or smile, he complained about other customers coming in and then leaving because they were not greeted, as they interrupted him when he was busy in the kitchen. So there doesn't seem to be great customer service or hot food. Disappointed as I wanted to support an independent local business. I paid £6.49 for inedible food.

First time I’ve been since it was the Butterly now under different owners (I think). Off the bat, it was good, apart from bubble and squeak on the menu.. I mean really? Bubble and squeak? Is this the ‘50s? Almost as bad as avocado on toast. Also the coffee tasted like it was sitting all week in a pot of dried feet but that’s probably down to me as I really don’t like some coffees, but it was an actual real size cup of coffee, not a token cup, and piping hot so a win there. Only went for a bap which actually was large and seeing other peoples meals they don’t skimp on the portion size which is good. They appear to have gone for bench seating all round I think to get in as many as they can, which I think if it was full it would lose some of its charm. Staff great, but no view of the river? Bit of a let down as it’s called the river view? Maybe I just needed to not face the wall and it may have been better?

Attended today and was met and welcomed by our waitress , very approachable and gave us a few minutes to decide. We ordered a Full English Breakfast which when served was absolutely SUPERB , presented impeccably, huge portions and very very reasonably priced . A lovely pot of Tea for one as well .This is a REAL GEM well worth a visit you will definitely NOT be disappointed. I can’t wait to visit again . It also has a fully licensed bar which we will be frequenting soon !!!

We experienced very poor service from start to finish. Me and some friends went here this morning for breakfast. The poor young girl on the till was just left in no man’s land, she clearly hasn’t been trained well enough if at all and she really struggled to take our orders in a reasonable time and she struggled to work out our total cost with a calculator.

After 40 minutes of waiting for our teas and coffees we requested a refund. The young girl was polite and apologised for everything. I paid via card yet strangely enough she could not refund me via card and instead gave us all cash instead which I found odd.

Unfortunately the cafe that was here before was a lot better than this current business. Busy or not, no customer should ever have to wait more than 10 minutes for tea and coffee.

Sycamore cafe is just over the bridge with the traffic lights, I would recommend going...
