First time I’ve been since it was the Butterly now under different owners (I think). Off the bat, it was good, apart from bubble and squeak on the menu.. I mean really? Bubble and squeak? Is this the ‘50s? Almost as bad as avocado on toast. Also the coffee tasted like it was sitting all week in a pot of dried feet but that’s probably down to me as I really don’t like some coffees, but it was an actual real size cup of coffee, not a token cup, and piping hot so a win there. Only went for a bap which actually was large and seeing other peoples meals they don’t skimp on the portion size which is good. They appear to have gone for bench seating all round I think to get in as many as they can, which I think if it was full it would lose some of its charm. Staff great, but no view of the river? Read moreWe experienced very poor service from start to finish. Me and some friends went here this morning for breakfast. The poor young girl on the till was just left in no man’s land, she clearly hasn’t been trained well enough if at all and she really struggled to take our orders in a reasonable time and she struggled to work out our total cost with a calculator.
After 40 minutes of waiting for our teas and coffees we requested a refund. The young girl was polite and apologised for everything. I paid via card yet strangely enough she could not refund me via card and instead gave us all cash instead which I found odd.
Unfortunately the cafe that was here before was a lot better than this current business. Busy or not, no customer should ever have to wait more than 10 minutes for tea and coffee.
Sycamore cafe is just over the bridge with the traffic lights, I would recommend going...
