I was recommended to try the Shed Cafe for brunch and I happened to be passing so I thought I would drop in. First impressions were good. It was a busy but clean and friendly environment. My breakfast including a cup of hot chocolate was over £15 so I was expecting something special. When my breakfast arrived, I was disappointed to see that the eggs were of poor quality and had very pale yellow yolks with no taste. Then on to the sausages which were cheapo catering sausages! The sort of sausages used in the cheapest of cafes that are basically breadcrumbs and fat and salt mixed together to form a very unappealing and tasteless belt filler. The best part of the breakfast by far was the hot chocolate which was very nice. Such a shame that you have most things correct here but just skimp on the ingredients and put profit before customer satisfaction. It didn’t help that the guy next to me was constantly talking on his phone to his ex cell mate discussing what they would do together when he eventually finished his sentence ( not your fault, I get that but off putting none the less).
Parking here is ample, food arrived very quickly which tells me that it isn’t cooked fresh. Staff are warm and friendly. My poor score is mainly based on your very low quality ingredients with high prices. It’s not value for money. It’s premium breakfast pricing with budget ingredients. Well done on the hot...
Read moreI searched for the best breakfast in Northampton and this place came up well.
So we took a trip out Thursday morning after doing the school run.
A lovely little cosy cafe , we were greeted warmly and shown to a table.
I ordered the belly breakfast and my wife ordered the medium breakfast.
A super thing I like is being able to swap out any components for something else.
I had a big mug of tea and my wife had a latte. Tea was a great brew and the wife said the latte was lovely and hot.
Two slices of hot buttered toast arrived each and the second I took a bite I knew we'd come somewhere great. Excellent bread and delicious salted butter, just fantastic!!!
Then the breakfast came out. Beautiful bacon Tasty tomatoes Super sausage Hit the spot hash browns Excellent eggs nice and runny Marvelous mushrooms Fabulous Fried slice
Beautiful Baked Beans the wife said. ( You'll have to take her word as I'm not a fan of them with a full English)
Left completely full and content, safe in the knowledge we will pop in again soon, we sat opposite a display of cakes and sausage rolls which we'll have to try another day.
So get yourself down to the Shed Cafe you won't be...
Read moreHaving moved to the area a little while ago a visiting friend and I went in search of a good cafe. We didn't have far to look as we hit gold when we found The Shed. Everyone was welcoming and friendly without being intrusive and there is a genuine interest in making sure you are happy with what you have ordered. The food is amazing ... every single thing I have tried is spot on, from burger & chips to the most wonderful meringue with lemon in the middle and the prices are very reasonable. (The meringue was so good we had to buy some to bring home as we couldn't get enough of it.) There is something for whatever time of day you go ... whether for a 'belly buster' breakfast, a cuppa and sandwich or a coffee and cake. There is seating both inside and out so although the place is popular we have always found a table without bother and never felt rushed to leave. Most definitely worth a visit...
