After visiting on the opening night it seems that San Carlo will finally be the operator to make this site work. Rather than a quick lick of paint the £3 million refit has paid off and the restaurant is classy with quality fittings and soft furnishings. The ribs to start were delicious and a decent portion (minor issue they could have been hotter). The tagliatelle with monkfish in a lobster bisque sauce (Tagliatelle Monte Carlo) was lovely and again a good size portion with plenty of nicely cooked bite size pieces of monkfish. The sharing desert platter (Dolci San Carlo) was also lovely with a small serving of San Carlo ice cream each, a pistachio sponge cake, ganache cake, Italian mille feuille and lastly a baked ricotta cheesecake. The service was friendly and efficient and had a great atmosphere especially considering it was opening night and the restaurant was full. I understand that staff were shipped in from other sites to assist which is obviously a good move and if they can keep up the quality, portion sizes and service the restaurant will be the massive hit it deserves to be.

We visited San Carlo AE today for lunch 6 of us, We had reserved and were invited to have a drink in the bar beforehand, would recommend this if you get chance lovely service and atmosphere, as close to the Italian Rivera you will get this side of the Pennines, We were shown to our table in the conservatory, well presented table with fresh white tablecloth, we all selected a variety of starters and mains from the menu, I had scallops 10/10 cooked to perfection and a nice size portion unlike some I’ve had in London recently where I got one !!! my wife had Pate and said it was excellent, all served in quick time and as always excellent service. Mains arrived after a short break, mostly pasta and all 6 people enjoyed there meal, for desert we had 3 Tiramisu between 6 people beautiful and light, all in all a great experience, £50 per head for food , we had a bottle of fizz and a bottle of wine and that added £200 hence removing it from the total. As the value is good for the food you get and the service is top class. If you haven’t been I would recommend you go.

We’ve been to San Carlo in Deansgate before, but the Alderley Edge venue feels quite different—more suited to a special occasion. On our visit there were several birthday celebrations, which added to the lively atmosphere. Although it’s close to home, it was our first time visiting. From the oyster starter through to a perfectly cooked Chateaubriand (shared), and finishing with tiramisu and a cheese board, the food was difficult to fault and thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant itself is chic and stylish, very much in keeping with Alderley Edge’s reputation as a hub of supercars and footballers. The music divided opinion—too loud for my partner, but I loved the funky, upbeat vibe, which gave it a club-like energy. The magnificent central bar quickly became the focal point of the evening, with people gathering as though it was the place to be in The Edge. Thanks for a great night and we will be back Signed ,Andrew Henry.

I will start of this review by stating that the food is fantastic here, They obviously pay the chefs very well. That is the only positive thing that I can review on this restaurant.

Upon entry into the new 'grand San Carlo' restaurant in the posh village of Alderley Edge, the initial reactions to the refurb are rather underwhelming to say the least.

It looks like a basic restaurant that you would go to in Brighton for a Fish and Chips and Tartare Sauce. You really must wonder where the 3 million pound went. Honestly preferred the previous decor when it was Gino's restaurant.

The main point of the review here is regarding the staff,

Particularly the manager (Who is somewhat of a stereotypical caricature of what an English persons view is of an Italian) Some may like the super loud attitude however I found it very very irritating

He came over at one point and made a comment about my T-Shirt which was totally bizarre and unnecessary. Going into deep analysis regarding the authenticity of it. The most bizarre encounter I have ever had in any restaurant ever.

He also commented on my Fathers Watch too which was very strange. Another staff member also commented on his trainers..You would not even receive this type of behaviour in a busy pub during the champions league final from the punters...never mind the staff of a five star restaurant chain.

Whoever is in charge of this restaurant needs to review the staff situation, particularly the flamboyant Manager. I know I won't be the only one to have noticed this, and there will be more complaints.

The cocktails were very sub par also (Cosmopolitan) and were comparable to something that would recieve in a student bar in Manchester). Very poor quality.

All in all this was a strange experience and would highly recommend going elsewhere for that 'Je ne sais quoi' -fine...

Wow.... Worst restaurant service in 10 years... Firstly, such a shame as the food was great.

We arrived 10 minutes before our table time and were seated 50 minutes after it, only after complaining twice to the host. (Felt like they gave us someone else's table in a panic, as it wasn't where they originally said it would be.)

In the meantime. no pint glasses at the bar (seriously... so we were charged 2 x £4.70 for two half pints...! They said they would charge for pints only, and even though we reminded the team of this before brining the bill, they forgot!

Service for mains was slow (busy Saturday, so perhaps forgivable on its own.).

Dessert, the waiter took the order, forgot it, came back to check, then forgot to take it to the kitchen. When it did come, it wasn't what we actually ordered!

We tried to discuss with the manager and we could only find normal staff. We asked to speak to her and she was trying to keep away from the wider problems across the restaurant, including ours. We asked to speak with her again and she avoided joining us by the kitchen despite asking, she opted for a discussion in front of ot customers at the table.

After complaining the manager was sadly just defensive (wait for her response below...). It's a shame really as she could have rescued the whole thing but she is clearly just inexperienced.

Far too young and lacking training. Despite circa 50% discount, genuinely one of the worst restaurant experiences on my life. I'd wholly recommend anywhere else but here...

In essence, not enough experienced staff or a decent manager to make this place worth the...

My friend and I had been waiting to try SC Alderley Edge for a while. We booked for a Thursday night, if we are honest we probably wouldn’t come back. The food was as nice as is expected for SC and Italian food but overpriced. If is what it is there however service, well we sat down and ordered drinks of which the wrong ones came out, this was quickly sorted and apologised for. Throughout the night our wine was topped up once, the rest of the time, my friend topped us up. But the most insulting was when we asked for the bill, all tables have a 13% service charge added, which to most tables is no problem however we advised we were not happy with that amount as a result of the service. From then the staff practicality ignored us. Despite not realising we had in fact left £10 in cash on the table (we hadn’t said we didn’t feel any service charge was due, just the amount) however we were practically ghosted when we left by all the staff due to them believing we had not left any service charge. Ignoring us after we said bye. This just leaves a bad taste for anyone to treat customers this way, even if there was no tip left. The question should be why and not punish the customer. A bad lasting impression for what was a highly anticipated night of good food...
