The Bay Horse Hotel — Restaurant in England

I loved this old school pub before its refurb, and although it’s still nice it has lost a lot of its charm. Went in recently. The service was awful (too busy chatting, no acknowledgement, in her own world, didn’t even look at me while handing change and didn’t acknowledge my ‘thank you’), plus the better bucket style comfy seats have been replaced with uncomfortable tall dining room chairs. We didn’t have food but stayed in the hotel. Staff were lovely and helpful, lots of cheap parking immediately outside the property, hotel room was nice and comfortable. My rating is lower because there was a fairly musty smell in our room (room 5) that was noticeable whenever we entered, after opening the windows for a while it was fine and not noticeable until we reentered later. The room itself was perfectly clean however smell slightly off putting. Overall a really good value...

Honest review Stayed here for the first time Saturday 20th September 2025 stayed in room 6 Impressed with the room for the price we payed the room had plenty of tea, coffee, milk with large cups. Rooms were excellent value really spotlessly clean with comfy bed and pillows. Shower was warm with toiletries. Can be noisy on a night with the bar being allocated below rooms but this is to be expected as it is a pub and it did not dampen our experience. Overall cannot fault would...
