As a real ale lover visiting family for the first time in 18 months and Cornwall in 16 years I popped in with my brother in law to sample a few beers. The Seven Stars is a good sized pub split in to two areas with a third large outside area behind the pub (where the brewery is visible through large glass doors). Lots of space and seating & a one way system in place to help social distancing. The bar is on the left as you enter and is well stocked with draught and tap beers. We first tried the two beers brewed on site - the Pale Ale on draught and the New England IPA on tap. The Pale Ale was deliciously creamy and light but with lots of flavour. The IPA being on keg was a lot colder and slightly hazy. At first it seemed a bit flavourless compared to the Pale, but as it warmed slightly on drinking the refreshing citrus flavour came through much better. We ended with a draught Tribute that was also excellent and a keg Verdant that also hit the spot.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, the prices were great value and although the menu was quite small it was very tempting. Perhaps next time.
So why not 5*? The Pale Ale was so good I asked if take out beer was available and the answer was no! I heartily suggest you get some 2 pint containers so customers can take beer away or just pop by so they can try your beer at home!
All in all excellent and I’ll be popping in again next time I visit. Good luck to you and your business in these...
Read moreParking for this place does NOT EXIST. This includes street parking or anywhere near the pub. Be aware if you’re planning to bring a lot of luggage that the nearest car park is at least 0.2mi by foot, uphill.|The room upon first glance was nice and clean. However, we noted that the trash was not taken out from the previous guest which made us worried that the room was not adequately cleaned (especially concerning because of COVID). The room was still undergoing renovation as the plaster patches had not been painted over yet. |Our last straw was our last night there. The staff was nice, but failed to let us know that we would not be able to order any food after 3pm on Sunday. Thus, we had to order delivery from another place one town over. After 2 hours on the phone with both the delivering restaurant and the Seven Stars staff, come to find out the Seven Stars staff just threw away our food when it was delivered! Their excuse was they tried to knock on all the doors but didn’t receive any answer - which is difficult to believe as I never left the room. |The staff turned what was supposed to be a romantic weekend away into a very frustrating experience. We would not recommend staying here and will definitely try to avoid this place again...
Read moreWanted a cheap getaway down to Cornwall with my rest days & this popped up on Booking.com. Unsure what to expect as my previous job allowed all expensive paid swankey hotels, I set my expectations low.||Upon arrival we were greeted by lovely staff (sorry didn’t get anyone’s name!) - who shown us to our room and discussing the beers from their “Hidden Brewery” (which were fantastic). The room (Room 1) was lovely - exactly as shown on the website - had more than enough amenities plus some breakfast. The bed was huge too. ||I also decided to have some food downstairs - steak and chips, this also didn’t disappoint, even better with the 10% discount for staying. ||All in all - I really enjoyed this stay, it’s a shame there aren’t more affordable places like this, it shows you don’t need to spend the big bucks for a near...
