Shere Punjab — Restaurant in England

I’ve been a regular customer of Shere Punjab and always appreciated their food, but my recent experience left me quite upset. I called to order an Aloo Paratha for £3.50, but when I went to pick it up, I was told they don’t accept card payments. This was surprising since I’ve paid by card here before without any issue.

What’s worse, they practically forced me to buy additional items just because I didn’t have cash on me. It’s 2025, and this kind of approach to avoid card payments feels very unprofessional and outdated.

While I’ve enjoyed their food in the past, this kind of cheap mentality has left a bad impression. Businesses should prioritize customer convenience and transparency instead of resorting to such practices. Very disappointing.

We always eat here when we visit Leicester but unfortunately we have caught covid twice after visiting this place. Although it could be due to somewhere else... we can only think of here as we always wear mask everywhere but obviously cannot whilest eating. The food is perfect everytime and for low price but the seating area is too small considering today's pandemic now means we need space around us. No window open. Heating blasting.

Also, their fire alarm been beeping since before October and still last week.. change batteries! Service is fast in terms of getting your food to the table but ordering is a little slow as one person cooks and works on till.

We would give 5 stars for food but after contracting covid twice after visiting Shere punjab where there's no social distancing and people coughing just inches away we feel we cannot give 5 star.

day before yesterday I had a very disappointing experience here. I ordered 5 samosas and 1 water bottle. They gave me the water bottle quickly, but for the samosas I had to wait far too long. Even after clearly telling them I didn’t have much time and needed my order quickly, they kept delaying—first saying 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, then another 5 minutes. In the end, they told me to wait 20 minutes.

I explained that I couldn’t wait because my car was parked outside, but the staff gave no proper response. Finally, I had to leave without receiving the samosas, even though they had already taken my money. Basically, I paid for food I never got.

Other customers were also waiting and getting frustrated. There seems to be no value for customers’ time and no commitment to what they promise.
