Rather amazing and dog friendly. We've been walking past this place on ourt dog walk on and off for three years and never got round to dropping in sometime, so this week we decided to change that and called in at lunchtime. Being mid November we took advantage of the winter parking rate in the village of 50p for 3 hours, had a walk along the sunny beach and dropped into The Ship. Warm welcome and plenty of tables to choose from. We opted for the Clawsome Fries, which is a sharing starter and decided we'd order more after that if we wanted anything else. The fries have melted cheddar, white crab meat, creme fraiche and chives, tiger prawns, sour cream, crispy onions and jalapenos - and what a taste sensation it was! The portion was massive and amazing value - not only didn't we need anything else for lunch we only managed a sandwich each for our evening meal. Great value, really tasty and with a menu full of interesting ideas - can't wait to try some more of them! I was also pleased to see a variety of vegetarian dishes on the menu as my son doesn't eat meat but I'm sure there'd be something here to tempt him. We'll be back.
Update late February 2024. Called in for a sandwich lunch; we'd been before and it was great. welcome was laid back rather than friendly We opted for the crab sandwich each, not cheap but a treat we thought. My advice - don't order the crab sandwich! The bread is very thick but the filling consists of very little crab meat with lots of creme fraishe - if you didn't know it was a crab sandwich you wouldn't guess it from the watered down flavour. On our third visit it came across as noty too good and the staff seemed preoccupied. I live less than 5 miles from the place, just wish they'd try a...
Read moreOur experience at the Ship Inn was overall; very negative. When our food arrived we had to endure a ten minute wait to get sauces and utensils, if the staff had informed us when we arrived this would not have been an issue. Meanwhile, while we were cueing for basic cutlery, our food sat going quickly cold. After a ten minute wait for utensils and condiments, we finally managed to consume our inedible food. The children's chicken goujons meel costing £7.50 was definitely not a meal. The chicken was tough and almost see through as a result of its dryness. The mega burger meal was just as dry as the chicken: everything was quite clearly over cooked. The tai green curry was very average. The peppers in the curry tasted of fish. After seeing the condition of the childrens chicken my appetite was ruined. My opinion is when eating out if the food that you are surved is worse than your own n cooking I should not have to pay for it. Quite frankly, this wasn't just worse this was very poor: poor is definitely an understatement. I'm not sure if this was just a one off however, my family will not be eating here again. I would certainly not recommend the Ship Inn to friends or anyone else for that matter. If it was possible I would...
Read moreNice pub and beer garden and very nice views and plenty of ale to choose from. Very nice old fashion pub and pub grub which smelt very nice but unfortunately me and my other half didn’t get to taste which was the disappointing part of our experience here. All I can say is if you want to eat here in the evening make sure you order before 19:00hrs even though it states 20:00hrs of stopping food otherwise you won’t get anything. We arrived at 18:30 and when I went to get drinks and menu I asked what time food finished and the gentleman behind the bar said 20:00hrs so when we went back later for more drinks and to order food which was 19:15 we were told by the same gentleman we have stopped doing food out in the garden so five minutes later we went to sit inside and order food so when I went back to the bar to order we were told they have stopped taking orders all together which by this time would have been 19:30 In the end for our last night away that week which should of been a special meal ended up with chips back at the caravan which we had a couple of nights before so you can imagine the...
