We walked from London Apprentice to Pentewen Sands, along the river path. (On the road from St Austell to Mevagissey). The walk was about 45 minutes each way as the dog had a good sniff at everything en route. We arrived at Pentewen village and found 2 lovely little cafes adjacent to the local pub, so we sat outside and enjoyed the March sunshine with a latte and just watched the world go by. Cyclists were frequent (it's at the end of a cycle path!) and walkers (usually with dogs) were many and varied. The Cove is very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stop there before returning to London Apprentice and the car. A good morning was had by all.

Great little coffee shop. Stopped off for a break while hiking a section of the coastal path. Selection of home made cakes, I had the brownie which was delicious. There is also a great selection of ice cream flavours. Always nice to see somewhere dog friendly and even happy to accept wet and muddy ones too :)

Stopped off for breakfast while walking the dog. Super English breakfast and a pot of tea for two. Smashing food and service. Dog friendly too.

I had booked into the Cove B&B for 6 nights, in the stable room, intending to tour the St Austell coastal area by motorbike, but broke down on route some 28 miles from the B&B. Thankfully I was recovered by Green Flag rescue and a local recovery service, and my motorbike and I, transported to the Cove B&B arriving late at 8:45pm. My checked into my room and was grateful that one of the proprietors was kind enough to wait for my arrival. The warm welcome and courtesy however ended there. Upon entering for breakfast the following morning, I made a request (in the age of vegan and dietary whims, not an unreasonable request I thought) to have the fat trimmed of the bacon prior to cooking. The reply was an abrupt “You can cut the fat of your own bacon; I am far too busy!”, to which I sat down baffled. Faulty Towers came to mind, but I let it go. ||On day two I asked if I could have the coffee and biscuits replenished in my room and was met with another stern response: - “I am very busy but will see to it and I have the accounting to sort out”, this time from the other proprietor. In my six days stay, I never had the room cleaned, the bed made, the waste basket containing takeaways etc emptied, nor coffee and biscuits replenished as requested.|Day for the door lock to my room would not close but was fixed the same day thankfully but I had to leave all my belongings in the stable room outbuilding situated on the roadside unlocked.||On the morning of my departure, I could not get a phone signal in order to ring the recover service to transport me 5 hours to my home, so before breakfast I popped in and politely asked if I could use the landline to call them. I was absolutely shocked at the response given particularly as I had been staying there all week and they knew my situation. “No, you can’t use the landline and I am busy serving breakfast” came the reply. “I can take a message and pass it on when I have finished serving breakfast”. Not really helpful as the earlier I informed recover the sooner I could be recovered I thought! I explained I don’t need you to pass a message on as I need just to use the phone for 5 mins and give all the details required. “Well, you cannot use the landline! its private.” Was the response. I contained myself and thanked her for her hospitality and said I no longer required breakfast.|Long story avoided I walked up the hill, got a signal and retreated in the rain to a coffee shop and organised my recovery, thinking I wished I had stayed at home!||I would seriously recommend that you avoid this B&B, which at £105 a night discounted to £85.00 per night for my long stay, is very much overpriced and the service...

Well where to begin?! I recently stayed at The Cove with two of my cousins on rather a pilgrimage. Our grandparents used to own the Piskey Cove Shop, which is part of the building, and I recently found that the present owners ran the upstairs as a B &B. This was interesting to us as this used to be where our grandparents lived in the mid 1960s to mid 1070s and we remembered many family holidays and Christmases staying with them. We booked for 3 nights and stayed in what was our grandparents old bedroom.||When we arrived Alison and her Mum Gill could not have been more welcoming. We immediately felt as much at home as we had on previous visits in our childhood. We talked of our memories and took down some old photos which interested Alison and Gill as they could see the past of their lovely home. The room was very comfortable and everything you needed was there. The breakfasts were very tasty and cooked to order. ||Pentewan is a lovely village and, although it had changed a little, it is a beautiful place to base your holiday. ||We would recommend The Cove unreservedly for the comfortable bedrooms, the little lounge, which was available to us all day, and for the fantastic welcome and the way we were thoroughly spoilt during our stay. We would all love to come back so thanks to the double act that is...
