First time ordering takeaway from here. Food was warm bordering on cold on arrival. They sent a vegetable rogan through instead of vegetable korma , but that was fine, would have rang up if was bothered by that. I have to agree with the other reviewers, the curry was ‘ok’ but it was quite bland and tasteless. The chicken was again ok, I felt there was enough. The onion rice was really bland. The bread was the biggest let down, it wasn’t that tasty. Kinda reminds me of the packeted naans you get from Tesco. Such a shame really. I was expecting more taste considering the price. A bit more flavour in all the dishes and an improvement to the bread would have pushed up my star rating.

Worst chicken biryani takeaway ever with watered down sauce. It was Luke warm and tasted of grease. I didn't receive a reply to my complaint but staff were aware and gave me a refund. They offered a free meal as well. I was hesitant but thought couldn't make a bad job of chicken tikka masala. How wrong I was! Again watered down sauce which was bright red and full of grease, half a dozen cubes of chicken floating in it. Nan bread ordered half the size of local Indian takeaway. I have a feeling they serve better food in the Resteraunt and skimp on takeaways. As many people wouldn't complain. In future will order from Durham Lane.

I visited with my friends for the first time. Decent ambience and friendly staff. Service was good and food was was presented well and decent in taste apart from starters. The starters were very oily, you can squeeze the oil out of it which was a bit of disappointment. The price for everything is very high compared to the portions or quantity they serve, again it is disappointing. The bill had extra charge for pickle tray which I only noticed after. We had 2 pickle trays but we were charged for 7. One of the reasons why I gave overall 2 stars instead of 3! I would recommend to check your bill before you pay.

Having used Soul Curry's takeaway service frequently since they opened my wife and I decided to take a visiting friend to the restaurant. We told him of the great quality of food we've tried and hoped that the same would be presented in house - we were not disappointed. My wife likes spicy food less these days and ordered King Prawn Mazedar. Our friend was keen to compare with his favourite King Prawn Biryani, and I ordered Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh. For starters we had poppadoms with 4 assorted chutneys, a fish Amristari and 'Chicken 65'. It was absolutely amazing quality and presentation, the taste was that of fresh ingredients cooked by someone who really cared about what they served. Incidentally, the Biryani was by far the best our friend had tasted (and he's a well travelled foodie) and we were pleased that our recommendation was spot on. We can't fault the meal or cheerful service and would recommend Soul Curry Yarm to lovers of tasty Indian food. We also took up the suggestion of the South African Pinotage which paired well with the spices in all the meals, as well as being cheap for restaurant prices. Great place and great value - three starters, three mains (two of which were King Prawn) and two bottles of good wine for less than...

Very disappointed.

Falls very short of an authentic feeling experience.

No atmosphere, inexperienced waiting staff who clearly had no passion for the job or food being served, ongoing electrical problems which were clearly causing the staff a bit of a problem, and so much more.

Food tasted OK,but definitely not fresh.

Tasted very bland, and the chicken starter came out much quicker than it could possibly take to prepare and cook the meal from scratch. The lamb had a strange texture, like it was not fresh at all. This review is not really about personal tastes, but more about a comparison to curries from the midlands , which has a great choice of real quality and authenticity, it falls way short of what you'd classify as good.

Service charge on the bill for the waitress to just plonk the food on the table and not give any quality service. I obviously didn't pay it; I'm not against this charge, but at least give a quality service!

Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Yarm deserves much better.

Probably wouldn't use again, and I...

An amazing eating experience here at Soul Curry. Incredible food. My wife and I are from Bradford so we have a lot of experience when it comes to Indian Cuisine. Soul Curry is a fantastic place to eat. The Bhajis were light and crispy (not doughy) and the mains were all fantastic. The butter chicken was gloriously creamy and lightly spiced to perfection. The Chicken Dupiaza was perfectly balanced between the amounts of chicken and onion. Lightly spiced in a very nice base/gravy. We also had a garlic chilli chicken which was equally as beautiful as our other main dishes. Heavily spiced to perfection with a perfect garlic chilli hit! The quality of the meat was very very good too. The service was excellent and all the staff were very polite and friendly. All in all, we loved it here and will be visiting many more times in the coming weeks and months. As Curry lovers, and new residents to yarm, we have been searching for a great Indian Restaurant. So happy we have found Soul Curry. See you again very soon...
