So disappointed. To start off with we had asked when booking if we could sit near our friends as we had to book two tables with only being allowed 6 at a table. We also phoned a week in advance if we could be near each other and they said yes we would and they booked us back to back. However when arrived we couldnt be sat any further apart, even though we had a free booth behind us. When we told the manager she said they've only just realised and said because of the new rule she couldn't even though she sat someone else there. She was very rude ( she was wearing a spotty blouse yesterday), she offered no solution and didn't even apologise. Then at the end of our meal we noticed we were charged for an extra dobule gin that we didn't ask for, a memeber of staff (she was lovely) said that the manager had told her that one shot of gin is 5.95 so a double was 12. We showed the girl that it said no where on the menu does it even come close to 12 pounds. We saw the staff arguing of who should come over and the manager finally came over, she said that the menu was wrong and she'd do it just this once after her arguing about it. she got the change and flung it on the table in lots of small change even though it was nearly 6 pounds we got over charged. She did not say sorry, just walked away without saying a word. She was so rude and no where has ever charged 12 pounds for a double gin, i went to the one in Newcastle and it was no where near that. I wouldn't go again after that poor customer service by the manager, it was shocking. Surely when you go to a restaurant they'd want you to have the best service possible however in this restaurant it was appalling. We booked because of a celebration and it was such a dissapointment, you would of thought in an exspensive restaurant they'd take pride on their servicenot...
Read moreReally disappointed in my experience this weekend, came out with a group of friends and they had a private party on at terrace outside (we did not mind) we knew service would be a bit slower. At 7pm we ordered 1 drink for our friend that had just arrived, at 7:20 it hadn’t come out so she came to check on it. The servers were irritated and noted it’s coming no apology, at 7:35 it still hadn’t arrived and we went to the bar to request to cancel the drink as it had been nearly 40 minutes we decided to go elsewhere. The general manager then started to get in a verbal argument with me shouting ITS COMING, WEVE ALREADY MADE IT NOW. the drink was not even fully mixed or in a glass, I told her we’d been waiting a while and we did not want to intrude near the private party any longer. She then started getting more irate refused to give me a refund and called security to kick us out. When this occurred I asked the manager for her name as I was going to leave a complaint, she refused to spell it out for me after telling her I was dyslexic. She then started shouting I’m dyslexic too so I can’t spell it ( in reference to her own name) I was laughing as I was so shocked, I’ve never waited nearly 40 minutes for one cocktail and then been so disrespected in what’s meant to be a more upper scale establishment. I will never ever come back here and I’m not surprised the Darlington branch closed when they’re treating paying customers like this. The other me members of staff and security were lovely and obviously uncomfortable by how sh was acting as they looked embarrassed. I cannot help but think would she have kicked us out if we were a table of all white women? Instead of some black I...
Read moreWe’ve wanted to visit this steakhouse for quite sometime. We finally managed it on Thursday 21st Dec, when my daughter was visiting from London. We booked for 5 people. We arrived on time and taken to our table upstairs - a great table but smack bang in the middle of 3 work’s Christmas parties!! We asked if we could move downstairs, to their other area, no problem. Again a lovely table and so much better. We ordered, had quite a wait for our mains, but that was due to the high volume of people in there and time of year, so no biggy. My sirloin came and was cooked perfectly, but was cold, as was my mash, my veg was hot. It was so bad I honestly couldn’t eat it and at £37+ nor should I have to!! I called our lovely waitress over and she apologised and took it away, I got a new dish which was again perfectly cooked and piping hot - it was perfect. My daughter and son-in-law ordered a sharing plate, £75, with 4 different cuts of meat and 4 sides. Every one of the steaks were not cooked to how they’d asked them to be cooked - they’d wanted some med/rare and some just med, non were cooked to their preference, they’d mixed the cooking up - not good! My daughter ate very little steak due to this and filled up on the sides. The bill came and it was £370+ with an optional service charge of £30 added, we requested that was taken off, something we never do but, this is a steakhouse, so the steaks should be faultless! We explained that the waiting staff were great but that the kitchen had let the team, and us, down....
