What an unfortunate experience to be had on our first time ordering food from Spiceland.

Firstly on ordering for delivery, I had to go through a rigmarole in order to pay on my card, being told they had to take a phone number and call me back to verify payment. When I queried this I was told the card has to be verified at the address the food was being delivered to. (how a phone call verifies this is beyond me?) When I queried what happens if I'm not at my address but paying for the food the Manager couldn't answer me, just stating that it was a requirement of the bank. (Not in my experience of paying at other establishments it isn't.) But none the less I went along with it. On the return call I was informed payment had been verified and would be with us in under an hour. 75 minutes later I call Spiceland to find out where our food was, to be told the last dish is being prepared and would be with us in 10 minutes. (I wasn't holding my breath.) In all fairness they did give us a courtesy call 15 minutes later to inform us it had just left and was on its way. (I was incredibly glad I hadn't held my breath) We ordered: Lamb Madras & Spiceland special rice. Chicken Tikka Massala with Pilau rice Tandoori King Prawn - Main Peshwari Naan Garlic Naan

The Special Rice was indeed special and very nice, unfortunately this did not match up to the Lamb Madras accompanying it, which barely had the heat to it that one would expect from a Madras and left my plate swimming in a water.

The Pilau rice was also very nice, and on opening the box smelt marvellously aromatic, unfortunately, again this did not match the Tikka, which was bland, and again left the plate (if not a little less) swimming in water.

The Tandoori King Prawn, whilst nice, and plentiful, was not at all what I expected, It covered in a sauce, which I felt distracted from the Tandoori taste I have come to expect from other establishments.

Further disappointment came in that Spiceland failed to send us the Card receipt with the food, some two hours later, after being promised by the driver that we'd get it shortly, alas again I'll pass on holding my breath.

Maybe they were having a bad night? A shame, as we won't take that chance and wont have food from...

Came with a group of 7 while staying in Wellington. Thought it looked good and smelled great from the outside. When the food came, mine personally was okay. Nowhere near the better curries I’ve had but it is what it is.

3 of the group had masala and weren’t happy with it at all. We all tried it and agreed that it was really bad.

When this was brought up to staff, the manager became super defensive, refusing to take criticism, and turning very rude. Then when he got the same energy directed back, he was then upset by this. The 3 that had masala hardly touched their food and didn’t want to pay for it. The owner said that because they asked if everything was okay about 1 minute into people putting their rice and curry onto their plates, that we lost our chance to complain.

He then very aggressively demanded we had to pay the bill all as one, and had another rude member off staff to block the door. This one was also very aggressive without good reason.

Eventually they took £19 from the bill. (Each curry was £13 if I remember correctly.) For the sake of wanting the ordeal to end, we paid and left. The waiter-come-bouncer then continued to be rude and seemed like he wanted to fight one of us over comments made about the awful service.

During the back and forth the owner kept trying to twist the situation to make it seem like we were making a scene rather than himself. I feel sorry for the customers that had to put up with that, but I can wholeheartedly say it was fully at fault of the staff and owner.

I cannot recommend you stay away enough. Bad food is one thing, but flat out horrendous customer service is...

I don’t know why this place has so many good reviews, never tried this place before, really disappointed by this restaurant. Had a takeaway as the Mrs wanted an Indian. Very confusing to order over the internet. When I eventually got my food the delivery driver pulled up onto my drive with very loud music and very bright lights which hit my kitchen window he must of had his full beams on which is ridiculous as there are street lights and the road is quite well lit. Also when he had come out of the car he was smoking a cigarette and threw the cigarette on to my lawn in my front garden. As he was smoking it really made the food smell of cigarettes so therefore the food was horrible. Will not be trying again.

Edit Dear Mr Saag Khan I did not order through Uber Eats and even if I did you are lying as Uber Eats says it is delivered by Restaurant staff. So therefore you need to stop bad naming other company’s. So you are not really gonna raise the issue with anyone. You are also saying your delivery service is contactless but your driver had no mask and no social distancing. You can’t say he did because you wasn’t there and I was. Also to be honest to you Saag, I was just trying to state the truth about your driver, as he should be more respectful pulling up to...

The inside of the restaurant is traditional to most curry houses with the leather seats, ambient mood lighting and Asian music playing in the background. It was quiet inside with only a large group and one other person. I was greeted promptly inside by the staff who gave me a choice of tables. After being seated, I was offered poppadoms and a drink which as most curry houses always do and try and upsell you like no tomorrow. The staff were following COVID-19 standards with visors and masks present and a one way operation on entry. I had the Chicken Mugli. Not as spicy as I thought and a lot sweetet than expected but the staff member explained this. It came within 10 minutes of ordering. It cost £9.95 which the majority of their items on the menu cost this. The poppadom was 95p. Diet coke was £2.75 which is above average cost. Generous portion size. Egg was overcooked which was evident by the green ring around it. Overall 8/10 met but did not exceed my expectations

There is something comfortably familiar and British about a local Bangladeshi restaurant, making a good choice for the end-of-decade New Year's Eve. Well patronised evening with convivial atmosphere. Welcoming, good-natured and enthusiastic waiters, younger ones especially to be remarked. Extensive old-favourites menu. In 2020 vegetarian options could be better highlighted but staff more than willing to adapt to customers' wishes. Interesting Bangla lager. Now that there is such a growing diversity of Indian restaurants in the UK, it is good to keep in touch with the roots...
