I was driving through and came about this place which has such beautiful surroundings, so, my wife and I decided to stop and check it out before we moved on to Bath. The first thing I did was to enter the pub to register our car's registration number (5 minutes upon arrival), as the signs indicated. This information was everywhere & very hard to miss, so I used one of the tablet's (one is by the till & the other one is located on the right hand side by the snooker table) that was provided by the establishment. Then we decided to have lunch here, the food wasn't anything special but just okay, perhaps it's because it was a weekday. We ate, played some snooker/pool and continued with our journey to Bath. A week later I received a PCN notice charge, saying that I didn't register my car, and therefore had to pay a penalty of £60 (if I paid straight away) or £100 if I wanted to appeal. Obviously I'm appealing because I did exactly what was asked of me (they only have a phone number to contact them but after calling a few times today, I had to leave voice mail hopefully they will call me back). Due to all this horrible scenario I absolutely won't be returning to this place. I can say this stop was definitely a very expensive one, and what a horrible birthday lunch it turned out to be. It's not fair at all, and keep in mind this can happen to anyone as well, so always take a photo of your tablet as well as the actual confirmation message of your registration after using it. Can the pub help me with this? I have 6 day's to respond...

The children has burger and fish fingers, which I think looked and tasted fantastic for a child's meal and was as simple as it needed to be for children, with a dessert too at Ā£6.95 each. Then we had a lasagne, with some very nice garlic bread, and I had the Beef Stew, which tasted fine but was just a little too lukewarm by the time it arrived. I could have asked for it to be warmed up but I didn't want to be the only one not eating, so a little bit disappointed there. The staff however were great, happy to have a conversation and actually increased my visit to know that there's a friendly pub I can add to my list (just don't ask what happened at the New Year's party š). I'd happily go the Stanshawes again, just think I might go for a drink and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAte inside no clear process for track and trace details. Even though every table was available the next couple were sat right next to us. Definitely not 2 metres. Nachos were excellent, burgers were OK could have been better. The t bone steak what a tip off, cold blue when asked for rare, about 5mm thick and spent longer cutting and chewing than the rest of the meal it was very fatty. Never had such a bad t bone. We were told to order at the bar yet every other table had...
