Located in Yate Shopping Centre it’s the ideal location to catch up with friends, family or loved ones over coffee (and cake if you’re like me). This Costa I would say has definitely improved since it has had a recent refurb. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Sometimes it can get very busy and you have to wait in the queue but it never takes too long. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars for this review but I was pushing more towards 3 stars. I would say it’s a good Costa in the area. The toilets are an issue for me, I try and avoid using them as most of the time they aren’t overly clean / immaculate. I have also been put off a few times by the fact I have seen flies on the cakes in the cabinet as it’s open at the back (so on those occasions I most certainly have not purchased a cake). The sandwich and drinks chiller is always well-stocked and overall it’s a nice Costa. They do fresh fruit in this costa and it’s far from fresh...

Nice cafe with friendly staff, and a quiet calm atmosphere. The items provided are standard among all Coata Coffee outlets, but at least when you know you like certain items, they will be the same wherever you are. There is another Costa not far from this one, a 2 minute walk at most, but I find this my preferred place.

Standard Costa with a toilet located at the rear. This store can get extremely busy at times and hard to find a space to sit. In these periods they may only be one staff member making the drinks and you can be waiting in the queue for a while.

Not impressed by staff. Only had one person behind counter, taking orders and making the coffee by themselves.

I wanted to use the meal deal, the sign only said, mains as selected in terms and conditions. But the only terms and conditions are on the wall sign behind counter area, with writing way to small. This has to be illegal. So after a long queue everyone had to wait even longer as the staff member changed her mind, what is and isn't allowed and then struggled to put the deal through the till.

I told her that sign isn't acceptable, she said, what do you want me to do about it, in a ride and direct way, so I simply told her to tell the manager, so she went and got the manager so I could talk to them. The manager had to help with the till anyway, the manager was polite compared to the person serving, but just blamed head office on the small signs and said nothing they could do.

All this for a panini and coffee. Expect better service when you pay coffee...

I visit this Costa occasionally, and very little has changed it seems. The guy in the queue was so hungry in waiting that he actually ate the cake before the drink had been made. Requested toast and marmalade, along with a drink, but the toast was out on the tray before my drink was made. The same occurred to the customer behind me. Surely, initiative would say that either the till assistant should assist making drinks before taking more orders, or delay making the toast. The other annoying repeated habit seems to be that the staff engage in long conversations with customers/friends at the drinks counter, again impacting on the queue. They all seem oblivious to how...
