On holiday for a long weekend with me having ideas about having fish and chips, tea and scones and Cornish pasties, well on one of the nights we were caught short as we got out after 9pm and everything basically closes except for this place, a couple of locals kindly pointed us to Sunny Spice and though apprehensive as we like options we made our way there. First impression was good as it was very busy and though it appeared a little basic it was cosy and had a certain charm.
We were looking for something to fill us up but pleasantly got more. They had vegan options which was handy for the other half, They even did Dosa's which I've not often seen in UK. Poppadoms and dips were ok but mains were excellent. It's not the Ritz but for the only Indian in town it did not let the town down. The service was professional friendly and prompt. One of the best value for meals we had all holiday. The Pahadi kebab I had was superb and the Dosa my partner had was also excellent by all accounts. I'd happily take this as a local over many of the places I've frequented over the years. Gave it a five due to you getting more than what you would...
Read moreVery disappointing, when booked we stated 5 seats plus room for baby in push chair but when arrived we was given a table for 4 people and staff didn’t understand what wanted so we just found ourselfs the right table in a empty restaurant, waited 20 mins to be offered a drink then waited for further 1 hour 20 for food to come within this time we had to go to the bar to ask for more drinks, when food arrived biriani sauce was very small for amount of rice the sag paneer tasted like it was frozen and done in microwave. As for the toilets very dirty and so small they had to fit sliding door as can’t open door into bathroom which also didn’t have any baby changing facility’s , finally when as the bar to pay bill you can see into the kitchen where I seen the chef serving rice onto place with bare hands from a large bowl which put nail in coffin for me, shame as we are local and will never...
Read moreAmazing, amazing food. Had a delivery from Sunny Spice on our holidays and it was one of the best currys we've ever had.... We have a local South Indian at home and the food is quite different to your traditional British curry, really flavourful and light rather than the thick sauces, it's also a bit healthier and less fatty.
Equally it's great sunny spice have some more regular Curry's on the menu if that's your thing, but really recommend trying something different to your usual and explore the menu.
The Dosas are immense, had the pumpkin one and the flavour was superb, great mix of spices, not hot but full of flavour - better than anything I've had on brick lane - and a massive portion! Even the popadoms and chutney selection blew us away... Try something different, expect you...
