My family and I visited the Bufala restaurant in Fowey today, Monday the 18th of July (2022). The restaurant is very nice indeed and when one goes through to the rear of the restaurant one is met with a lovely view of the estuary and the boats. There were tables set out for lunch with a few people sat at them but it was too hot for us to sit out( no shade, no parasols, no awning). We ordered our food and I had the chargrilled peppers with anchovy salsa verde as a starter, very disappointing, just 5 or 6 very thin strips of peppers with a smattering of anchovy paste £7.00. For our mains we all had pizza and we thoroughly enjoyed them, delicious and beautifully cooked. The waitresses/waiter were very friendly, polite and professional. One very odd thing about the restaurant is that they don’t serve coffee, well , they don’t serve Cappuccino, very odd, the restaurant is huge, well, it’s certainly big enough to accommodate a coffee machine, Wetherspoons seem to have mastered it. So, just three things to mention, ( I don’t think that the owners ever look at peoples reviews, they never leave “ a response “ to them and that’s a shame because they could improve if only they could be bothered to look)
We visited this restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a pizza while taking in the breathtaking view of the beautiful harbour from the balcony. However, our experience quickly soured. Unfortunately the sea view tables were occupied so they moved some tables to seat the six of us not overlooking the harbour. We placed our drinks order and, as the people in the tables overlooking the harbour had gone, I asked the waitress to be moved but she said "We don't move seated customers". I asked again, saying we really would like to move and that it wasn't an unreaSonable request as we had only got drinks, but she said no she won't move us and that they don't move tables. I pointed out that they had already moved tables to accommodate us but she slammed the drinks down on the table. We then heard her say to colleague "You can serve them". Another senior water came over and said they Wouldn't move us so We decided to leave. He asked me to pay for the untouched drinks but refused. He then asked again quite aggressively saying I must pay, so we just walked out. now wish we had read the other reviews before we went in, as there are many complaints of rudeness. Also I notice there's a 12%...
Read moreI feel like this visit was a bit of a poor experience overall. The service was pretty bad. The drinks took a long while to come out. The menu was very limited but we opted to share a mozzarella with pesto and tomato. This was expensive at £12, but was truly amazing and just like the incredible fresh cheese I have had in Milan - 5 star. The pizzas were around £18 and arrived in o.k time (the restaurant was pretty empty) but 1 pizza was wrong so my daughter had to wait for another with the correct topping for nearly 10mins. We asked for extra water on the table to be replenished but that never came. We asked twice for some grated mozzarella but we're halfway through pizzas before that turned up. The pizzas were OK but not at all a show stopper. We found them to be over-cooked on all 4 pizzas, the crust being hard to even break in the mouth. We didn't have anything else but thought 4 drinks, 4 pizzas and 1 starter was expensive for our overall eating experience. The service charge(10%) was added so the bill came to just over £100. I would not...
