Visited this evening with our family and opening thoughts were that the restaurant seemed nice and the staff were very accommodating, the head waiter seemed a very pleasant guy. Ordered our food and drinks, again the staff seemed very pleasant they were also very talkative which was nice. Then came the food which was served in good time, even though we were in no rush.
Unfortunately now the downside, three members of the party ordered a Dhansak. All three people felt that this was very bland and just so y didn't taste like a Dhansak. I ordered from the special menu as the dish sounded amazing, but again it was unfortunately very ordinary we were so disappointed. However we weren't going to complain as we just wanted a nice family evening out.
Then the 'friendly' head waiter came over... He asked 'is everything ok' as he was asking for feedback we then obliged to provide him with honest feedback. Clearly he didn't like this and wasn't expecting honestly as typically the 'british' thing to do is just say 'yes, everything is fine thank you' It was only us in the restaurant at this time so we weren't looking to cause a scene or a fuss, we just gave our honest opinion as he ASKED for it.
The 'friendly' waiter clearly didn't like this and went all defensive trying to justify the taste of the curries as though our taste buds were lying to us ??!!! He then went off in a strop and didn't speak to us for the rest of the evening.
I wanted to speak to him directly before leaving even though it was so obvious that he was doing what ever he could to avoid this. So I approached him to pay the bill as there was no way I could just leave the restaurant with out discussing this and clearing the air.
I then proceeded with telling him that it's out of order to ask people what there thoughts are and to then be un happy with the honest feedback. This is a restaurant!! Your customers are everything, we DID NOT COMPLAIN. YOU ASKED US and how you behaved after was a complete disgrace.
There was no apology. Nothing was knocked off the bill. The man couldn't even look me in the eye when I was trying to talk to him. He was then trying to justify why nothing was knocked off the bill, the excuse he made was that 'I have never seen you come here before, you are not one of our regulars. If you do come back though we can make sure that you are looked after' To which I shook my head. He then asked, with his head down and eyes staring at the floor 'can we get you a round of drinks' I said 'thank you but this will not be necessary, we just want to leave'
Food is food and every restaurant can have an off night, we have even returned to resurants if we have not had 'great food' to give them another go but the attitude of this man was so pathetic, he acted like a spoilt brat who wasn't used to being told anything other than what he wants to hear.
I can assure you that we will never return to this resurant as I cannot stand rude people especially when this is the attitude displayed to...
Read moreI ordered the lamb roasty on the bone 'Punjabi style' and the Bombay potatoe, with rice and chappatis. As a delivery. I was horrified to find the curries were no where near authentic or Punjabi for that matter. The lamb was so tough we couldn't eat it. The sauce was sweet with visible raw crunchy onions and the base for both dishes was exactly the same. I called up to complain at how the food was in no way a curry let alone Punjabi style!! Only to be told I should have specified I wanted it to be authentic as most people (non Asians) prefer their curries in the way I had recieved.
Extremely deceiving and not acceptable especially when I'v ordered online- how am I supposed to know that I will receive a fake curry unless I request a real curry.
My advice would be if you are used to eating REAL curries don't even bother ordering from this place what a waste of food and money- chappatis were the only thing close to authentic.
Then to be told I should've requested Apna style by calling up is a joke. Maybe they should state fake curry or real curry on their...
Read moreWe dined at Taj Mahal on Sunday evening last week and what a pleasure it was. A very inviting restaurant. Great atmosphere, excellent, respectable and well timed service with attention to detail. Delicious, well prepared & presented food.
That was our first time in Telford, we did not know the place, so we drove around town and after checking two restaurants then we accidentally drove past the Taj Mahal, from the outside it looked appealing. As we went in we had a friendly and very respectful welcome. We were made and felt very comfortable with our seating arrangement. Our main dishes included Chicken Multani and Mogahl Style Chicken with rice and nan bread. Very generous and satisfying food. Our complements to the Chef and all...
