Went for the buffet. Made a reservation beforehand. The waiter was very smiley and welcoming. Seated us on a table near the door. Didn't give an option to sit anywhere else. This was ok. But workers constantly kept opening door. When we had finished they had left the door open. I think they wanted to bring in more customers?
Some one star reviews felt they didn't like Indians. I didn't feel this was the case. But they may have over compensated for this.
The food was ok. I felt it is catered for the British palette. Everything was sweet apart from chicken tikka starter. It wouldn't meet up to expectations of people who eat authentic Indian food at mainland restaurants.
The starter consisted of chicken tikka which was the best tasting thing on the buffet. They had a onion bhaji. I had bad luck as my first bhaji was hard so I wasn't overly impressed. I felt the starter was limited.
There was a variety of mains. 3 types of chicken curry (mild, medium, hot). I only tried the hot which was ok. They also served a egg+veg purji and saag with beef. Both dishes lacked taste. Inedible with rice. But went down ok with naan. Naan pieces very small.
Ordered an additional paneer dish off the menu. You cant really go wrong with paneer. But onions were still raw, tomato still sliced. Very disappointed.
Overall if you are looking for cheap and cheerful sweet indian food it's the place to go. Avoid if you want something authentic. Better off with a Tesco chicken tikka in...
Read moreSo the restaurant was around the corner from the hotel. As a family of 12 including children we thought it would be a ideal place to go. MISTAKE!! We called up and they said they where fully booked and if we came in person they can seat us, which we did. Once arriving at the restaurant one of the waiters was SO rude to one of the members of the family (saying - What do you want) That was put aside and we all sat down to enjoy a family meal. We ordered Drinks and starters, out of no where the manager appeared and tried to apologise for the mistake his staff had made, but the Manager himself was very rude. Next minute you no its all kicked off and the Whole restaurant is looking at us thinking what is going on. In the end the Manager called the Police and we simply told the police, we are from London and we don't expect to get abused when going out for a family meal with children. From what i noticed the manager / Staff don't like Asian people attending the restaurant. The manager still had the nerve to say there is a peri peri chicken next door if you would like to go there. All in all very crap out dated restaurant. Rude Manager / Staff At the end of the night we went to another Indian restaurant and spent well over £300 which i am glad did not end up in this Managers pocket.
Never again on the Isle of Wight will i or family / Friends be going to...
Read moreI don't know where to begin with this, I ordered my food at 20:52 - and 2 hours went by as I can appreciate they're busy with this COVID19 situation to find out, that apparently it's been out for delivery, and delivered to another address. Driver never had my phone number, even though I went through the online order form which requires me to put my number down.
After being told they're going to give my number to the delivery driver, and to wait 15 minutes, again nothing appeared - I called to cancel and request my refund of 39.05 - to be told there's no manager to do it, so I need to call back tomorrow at 5:30pm - pretty disgusting that I have to be the one to call back when I've made a £40 order which decided to never turn up, it'd be a nice gesture for the manager / owner to actually reach out to a customer for a bit of retention.
I called again today, to be told to call back after 30 minutes because apparently he needs to confirm with his driver that I never recieved my food..
I call back after 30 minutes, to be told that he never spoke to the driver, but he'll give me my refund over the phone, which I now have to wait 3-5 business days...
