We had eaten here a couple years ago and we weren’t overly impressed but thought we would give it another go as the reviews seemed better, I wish we hadn’t…
I’ll start with the good points… Our starters , chicken wings and mozerella sticks were lovely, proper chicken wings and the mozzarella sticks were delicious) although these did take half an hour to come out but we didn’t mind as both starters were good.
Waitress.. to begin with the waitress was very attentive, asking if we wanted her to go through the menu with us, and very prompt on taking order and checking in (didn’t have to wait around for ages) unfortunately that’s where the good points end.
Bad points.. DO NOT chose to sit upstairs, it’s extremely Smokey as the kitchen open ups onto the dining area, at one point my eyes were stinging the smoke was so bad and both of us came out smelling like we had been working in the kitchen (the waitress did ask us if it was okay to open the windows (it was a cold evening) and we agreed as the smoke was unbearable, but this also made the dining area cold and I ended up sitting with my coat wrapped around my legs.
Both of us had burgers for our mains, we knew by looking at the menu that they were cooked medium rare but one of our burgers was not cooked at all in the middle, it wasn’t just pink, it was fleshy and not edible. When we were asked by the manager if our food was okay, we showed him the burger and he apologised and took it back to the kitchen, I could see him talking to the chef, then walked back to our table and pointed at a menu to show us it says they are cooked medium rare, he was rude and made it try to seem like we were stupid and that’s how it was suppose to be, yet my burger was also cooked medium rare and mine was actually edible. I explained that it wasn’t cooked at all and all they needed to do was look at it and you can see straight away it’s not cooked, he apologised again but I feel like this was just to get us to shut up. (We had no discount added to our bill for this even though it was quite clearly not cooked, not even an offer for a new burger.
After we had eaten it seemed the staff had completely disappeared! It took us ages to actually get our bill and when we did get it, we waited another 15 minutes for us to find someone so we could actually pay the bill. On the end we got up and found someone so we could pay and leave.
Will NOT be returning or recommending, it needs a new manager and some motivation.
I never leave reviews but I felt really disappointed and felt like I wasted money that could have been spent elsewhere with better service and food. The prices here aren’t cheap, the least you expect is properly cooked food and...
Read moreAfter my husband wanting to desperately visit Texas Rocks, we finally got around to going last night. The place itself looked great, however the food was not so great and you don't visit a restaurant just because it looks good, we will definitely not be returning! My 12oz steak had probably half its weight in fat on it, by the time I removed this, I probably ended up with 6ozs. I asked for my steak "Well done" which it was, but so was our sides of chips and onion rings, they were cooked within an inch of their life, the onion rings had about 99% batter and 1% onion! The Diane sauce came out with full button mushrooms in it, this was not stated on the menu and the server said "Its never what people expect." I hate the texture of mushrooms so had to try and scoop the sauce around them out onto the steak. I wish I hadn't bothered, the sauce was so salty that I had to scrape it off again and apply ketchup all over my steak to remove the taste, my husbands peppercorn sauce tasted more like a brandy sauce. We wanted to try Texas Rocks. We have. It was the worst steak place we have ever been to. We will definitely be sticking to "Miller and Carter steakhouse"...
Read moreWe went for dinner tonight, the food was amazing as always! What we didn’t appreciate was the terrible family sat outside who were letting their son spray his water pistol at us as well as other customers. Then once they realised we had clocked them doing it and weren’t happy about it, they then went one step further and the father of the children walked up to the bar (very close to where we were sitting) and sprayed my partner right to the back of his head and I watched the waitress behind the bar laugh at him while he done it. ALL STAFF members knew this family was doing that, as they were all laughing and joking with them and laughing at the fact they kept coming inside to refill the water pistol, food is always great but this really wasn’t what we expected when we went out for a nice dinner, it felt like we were in a preschool lunch hall. Made worse by the fact the waiters/waitresses all knew about it as well and did absolutely nothing, even after witnessing my parter being sprayed multiple times and laughing about it. Not wanting to cause a scene in a restaurant we very quickly finished our food and left. Such a shame because food is...
